  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I knew a guy who, when he and his buddies would go out of town to a place they'd never be at again, they'd see how long they could keep talking to a girl while using the worst lines in the world.

He said it was amazing that girls would put up with some of it.
He got slapped a lot too.

Not at all. A corny pickup line, delivered well, is good for a chuckle at least and may open up conversation. Don't forget that laughter is the shortest distance between two people.

Once I was walking into a store when a guy in the parking lot starting singing, "There she goes justa walkin down the street singing..." He started walking towards me, singing that song on the top of his lungs, and just staring me down. I bolted for the store entrance. It's quite funny now in retrospect.

Another time a guy in a car shouted, "Are you doing fine? Good, 'cause you look fine." He was driving in the opposite direction that I was walking, so I didn't have much of a chance to be embarrassed about it.
