  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yes but this is not a definition of what the soul is. Can you actually define what it is.
The reason I ask is that once science is used to justify and or explain something that belongs in the realm of spiritual faith [Religion] then suffice it to say that scientific methodology should apply. Now I need a scientific definition of "SOUL" so that I know what we are talking about.

There is no science for "soul", no soul-testubes, no soul-labs, nothing at all dealing with the essence of Matt 10:28 regarding what survives in a Psalms 146:4 "Thoughts cease" state.

in Christ,

Bob

Psychology is one of the most anti-Christian fields around.

I'm a member of the Psychoheresy Awareness Ministry (Dave Hunt is contributing editor), and it's amazing the garbage psychology puts out.

Every time you post I get the feeling we are hearing from Stephen Colbert trying to give the best misconception possible.

in Christ,

Bob

Why is it not acceptable to not choose a side?
It is fine with me, but the Bible says that God wants people hot or cold. luke warm is not good enough. This is more of a referance to the people who represent God. He has ever right to be picky about that.

No, you don't. Your mood is blah because you need soul food! Jesus is the light of the world. Life is in Him. People without him are like a boat out at sea during a storm without a navigational device and a radio to call for help. Your tossing to and fro, not knowing where you are going and in the end, you'll discover it was all for nothing, just chasing after the wind.

No, you don't. Your mood is blah because you need soul food! Unless you consume soul food you will become malnourished and eventually die. This is primarily why your mood is blah! Jesus is the light of the world. Life is in Him.

I assume you're trolling.

And that's where the famous Pascals wager enters.

I say, if god feels he needs to punish me after I've lived a good life, not praising him every step I take, he can go ahead. I won't regret taking the best alternative at the time.

That is a IF you do not have to worry about. God is absolute and perfect Justice. His scale is perfectly balanced. You put the good you have done on one side and the evil on the other. The scale is going to tilt one way or the other and you will be rewarded or punished accordingly.

Ruth 2:12 The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust.

I hear this out on the streets all the time. Some people call this Karma. Some say what goes around comes around. Everyone I know believes if you do good you will receive good in return. If you are not good to people, then it is going to come back on you. Lots of people will be happy when you get what is coming to you. For me I do not want any negative energy out there. I do not want people thinking negative thoughts. I want them to think positive thoughts in terms of the work I do and if I have done them good. It is what follows after people when they are gone. A good man, good follows after them. A evil man, evil follows after them when they are gone.

What use is heaven or hell if god gives judgment in life?
Also, doesn't this negate the need to be dedicated to a religion?
You said he doesn't want any lukewarm side sitters, you're a bit inconsistent.

If you win the game of life then you go to heaven. If you lose you go to hell. What is the problem with that?

This is not based on people who talk a good talk. Or even put on a good show for others. This is based on people who actually live the life that God calls us to live and does what God tells us to do. Oh, He could have made a lot of lemmings. But He wanted to give us free will and freedom of choice.

God does not want lukewarm programers. He wants people who really believe in what they are doing and do not slack off and leave a lot of lose ends open. You can be a lukewarm player. But you still have to finish the game. If you quit and give up half way though, then you will lose your reward. You can still go to heaven, but you will not receive any reward. Only those who play the game to win, will receive a reward.

The problem I had with it was that I had the impression that heaven and hell were the only judgements (since there is no way to affect luck, thus invalidating 'karma').

So one can still avoid hell even though one doesn't believe?

Oh so I take it that you will not hesitate to burn a witch (let not a sorceress live) or to kill a disobedient child?

Looks to me like your having trouble trying to figure out how to play the game. Maybe try some of the more easy levels first and then you can advance when you get the hang of it.

Life is not a game! But couch philosophers will always mock the poor, destitute, suffering masses by claiming that they suffer because they are not true believers. Do I remember a tornado hitting a church and killing all those devout Christians once in if I remember somewhere in tornado alley?

This is a way of teaching so people can understand what your saying. Jesus is considered the best teacher that ever was. Because his method of teaching was so effective. You have to use word pictures and something people can relate to. You should sign up for some teacher training classes because it can really help your communication skills to learn how to relate to people on terms they can understand. If no one understood Jesus, He would have been ignored. The problem was they understood all to well what He was saying.

I remember a tornado hitting a church
The church we attended here was hit by a tornado. That was because there was a new housing project and the pastor did not want to expand the church to make room for the new people. After the tornado he had no choice but to rebuild the church.

Wonderful, if your happy and content no problem. So what are you doing on this forum?
I'm here to learn and discuss. I love to learn and like to discuss.
This is a place where I can improve my english, writing skills, explanation skills, basic knowledge in different areas and some other things as well.
Also, I'm learning about different ways to think, I value that, such differences makes it easier for me to see things from different angles.
