Small peeve: When something happens to someone, and they tell you about it repeatedly -- in the same way, with ALL the same details, as though you'd never heard it before. And when you try to push the "fast forward" button by either telling them you've heard it before, or repeating the details to them to help them realize they've said it all already, or you ask them a question to get them to the next point -- they stay stuck on telling the story. Some people are incredibly linear...

I disagree. I don't think they are "incredibly linear" as you put it. My mother has a problem with histrionics. I fear she's getting Alzheimers, like her father, my grandfather did before her. May I suggest you either be more patient, or pray for temperance. Sometimes a person who you feel is an annoyance isn't aware that they've told you something before. And all they really need is for someone to listen and care. :)

I can understand the first peeve listed about when people don't take the time to edit posts or other material they write. You can tell when someone is just being lazy. But I can't let myself get too annoyed at it as I am a really bad speller and not the best with grammar. I'd be lost without my spell checkers!

A related one for me is when I take the time to write out a specific point and people then respond and you can tell they didn't really read what you wrote and then take your point totally off track. :swoon:

... In light of recent events I have to mention one more ... when my cat insists on throwing up on the carpet instead of the tile floor 3 inches away! Or (as just happened just now) when she goes under the computer desk where all the wires and stuff are!!!

:p

My husband is one who really insists on finishing his points or stories and I don't think he often picks up on others signals that they don't want to hear the full version or that they want to change the subject. Of course I am one that if we are having a little argument about something I don't usually want to "drop it" until I think it is resolved (by that of course I mean until he admits that I am right :p) This is even when he has asked me to drop it multiple times.

So I have learned to try to be patient on both fronts, when he is long winded (even if we are in a group and I am getting embarrassed) and when he asks me to drop something to actually try and let it go. Note that I say "try to be" ... I'm not there yet by an means.

But this stuff always reminds me of the saying "When you are pointing your finger at someone there are three pointing back at you!"

Thank God for his grace eh?

Hello Celestina!!

Welcome to the Fab 40's:wave:
HI!

Thank you so much for the welcome! I am glad to be here! ....

Okay here is one last pet peeve ... a fun one ...

You have just filled up the dishwasher and managed to fit in every last dish ... and one of your beloved family members brings in one more dirty glass ... and a plate ... and silverware ... and an empty tupperware container ...
