  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I hear ya! I'm a worship leader and it really is a pet peeve of mine when the instruments are too loud. What's the point? I too enjoy hearing the voices sing together in harmonies and as a body. It's music to my ears to hear the voices like that. These days the instruments (especially the drums! :o) seem to want to take over. I play piano too so it is nice when I can control the sound of at least THAT instrument.

Funny...I thought it was just in MY church this was happening. Kinda good to know its not. :)
LOL - no, I've talked with some friends in other churches and they seem to have the same issues.

My wife and I go to a chapel service at our church where we don't get the big auditorium performance each Sunday - but we have a piano there and in a room that won't hold more than perhaps 60, they put a microphone in the piano! Ha! I don't get it.

My best friend attends church in Nashville, where the musicians are tops in the country. It is his opinion that amplification makes up for poor performances in churches like ours - because they have all the instruments and amplifiers in his church - but the musicians there are "session level" players who he feels don't need the amplification to sound their best.

Oh well, we keep praying... LOL

^_^ Naa..I bet you have a nice Tenor voice. :)

No really, it's pretty bad, even got elbowed in church by my wife once:sorry:

I can follow a bass line if I'm near someone singing it, but I can't get very high on the scale.

Here's a peeve about women & fashion.

1. I don't know what ya call it, but that weird hairstyle where the hair is sorta pasted down on top and front and all ducktailed in the back~Jessica Alba couldn't make that 'do look good.

2. The narrow eyeglasses thing-ok, so they got big and round in the 80's, but did we have to return to the 60's with those narrow glasses? All they do is hide your eyes. (they're ok on dudes I guess)

Whew, finally got that out ;)

A popular Emo cut is the 'Gunshot Wound', the long, sweeping fringe or bangs is juxtaposed by relatively short, spiked hair at the back

Couldn't find a pic anywhere~the front/bangs are always heavily gelled/pasted down until ya get to about the top/crown, then the back is spiked out. I'd consider it a short hairstyle, but couldn't find a pic but found plenty of other strange do's.

As I try to Imagine Jim's hairstyle description^_^ , I have a peeve to add --

MEN WHO WEAR AN EARRING THAT SHOULDN'T WEAR ONE.
Harrison Ford was always handsome - then he got older and got an earring! :help: :swoon:

I just saw an attorney on CourtTv that was wearing one and he was just too 'manly' looking for an earring.
The ONLY men that can pull off wearing earrings are guys that have a slight effeminate type of look to them - not RUGGED or manly-handsome. (imho)

People who are late for EVERYTHING!!! Arrrrrrrrrrggggggggggg

I love my best friend dearly, but it drives me nuts that I have to fib about what time everything we do starts so we can get there on time.

Also, people who will not GO when the light turns green!! Around here, people have no problem running red lights like it's cool, but they somehow are not capable of hitting the gas when the light is actually green.

I have a pretty good idea of what you are talking about, but I have seen it more on guys than girls. I'm at work, so Ican't post images, but if you google images for bands like:

Fall Out Boy
Good Charlotte
Panic! At the Disco

I'm guessing that at least one of the members would have that cut LOL. Ummmm, as a disclaimer, I would like to state that my daughter listens to all these bands, which is how I know about them. I do NOT have any of their songs on my iPod, no you MAY NOT check!! *whistles*
