  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Odd, because the last time I took this I was such the introvert.

People change. Experiences, moments, relationship, events all change people.
I've always strictly tested as INFJ but now I test as ISTJ.

when I took the test my extrovert/introvert margin was 1% :p I think it depends on the situation/circumstance/mood I'm in, but I'd be willing to bet that I'm more of an introvert than an extrovert (meh, I could go either way)

So I could be an ENFJ, or an INFJ

The one thing with these personality tests is the fact that your options are limited. In some circumstances I might think this way, but it's not consistent...

edit: whoa, I just read more info about INFJ's strengths and weaknesses, and they describe me pretty much word for word :p

Usually I'm INFJ.* I find that a lot of people who frequent forums are INFJ/INTJ. Not surprising since we're introverted. All those E-types are out busy having lives whilst we are stuck here arguing with each other about nothing. :p

*Just took it again for funsies and I'm ISTJ today. Though both the S and T were 1% so I guess I'm borderline ISTJ/INFJ. Interesting.

When I run into E's they actually tell me to get a hobby. My "ideal mate" is apparently an ENFP.

The test told me that I was an ESFJ, but the first three (and the second one especially) were very close. I'm self-aware enough to know that I'm actually an introvert because I recharge when I'm alone. It's close, though, because I enjoy spending time around people and almost always take the opportunity to do so.

My margin for sensing/intuition was 1%, but I know that I'm definitely a sensing individual, so the test has that one right.

As far as thinking vs. feeling goes, I think this one is really close, but again, I think the test got it right. I would definitely lean toward feeling.

The last one wasn't really that close, so I would trust the test's conclusion on that.

So I would call myself an ISFJ with the potential to swing to an ISTJ, an ESTJ, or an ESFJ in the future.

I think it was either INTJ or ISTJ. im not 100% sure.

You don't seem like an "N" to me. "Ns" are in the minority of the population and I feel like when I run into another "N," we're on the same wave length. I can see you as a "T"' and a "J" though.

I can't be categorized.

You'll be categorized whether the categorization fits you or not. :p

My results tend to be INTP or INFJ, but that doesn’t necessarily mean I’m either. I find that my third fourth letters are more likely to vary depending on the circumstances. For instance, I might be a T at work where I dispassionately deal with technical things, but prefer feeling at home where things are more subjective. Likewise for judging and perceiving. My preferences for the first two letters, however, are more consistent regardless of what’s going on. I’m introverted and intuitive throughout the day. As such, it’s more accurate to say that I’m something of an INXX. Although I can relate to some of the descriptions better than others, mostly the introverted intuitive types, I’d have to cherry pick traits from all 16 to give you a reasonable idea of what I’m really like. I’m not a classic INTP, INFJ, or any of the rest for that matter. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that none of us are, but that doesn't mean I don't find the MBTI interesting, or that we can't use it to better understand ourselves or our neighbors.

That interesting. Now if you would be kind enough to explain why you don't see me as an N and why you see me as a T and J. Cause to be quiet honest I don't think I even remember which traits go with each.

Most often when I take the tests I turn out to be INTP. There are a few where I showed as ENTP though and once as an INFJ. Taking the test is not always very accurate though. Understanding the 8 cognitive functions is usually be best way of understanding MBTI and your personality type. After studying the cognitive functions, the one which I am closest to is INTP I think, and I do come very close to being an ENTP. I know that I use introverted thinking, extroverted intuition, introverted sensing and extroverted feeling, but I am sometimes unsure of these functions order in my personality type.

When people say they are both a thinker and a feeler and for example say they could be an INTP and an INFP, I don't think they are taking into consideration the eight cognitive functions since an INTP has extroverted feeling as their inferior function and an INFP uses introverted feeling as their dominant function, and these two are very different functions from each other. The same goes for INTJs and INFJs. Although both use introverted intuition, they also both use different feeling functions and thinking functions from each other (introverted feeling vs extroverted feeling and extroverted thinking vs introverted thinking).

Also, someone can be using an extroverted function as their dominant function and still seem introverted by others. What this means in the cognitive functions is that an extroverted function is more focused on the outside while introverted is more focused internally.

The description on this webpage of the cognitive functions is pretty accurate I think and I pasted it below. Understanding the Myers Briggs Type Indicator: The 8 Cognitive Functions

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cognitive Function Descriptions

Se: Extraverted Sensing

Extraverted Sensing is the strong awareness of the physical world. We enjoy the thrill of actions and impulses in the present moment. We act on our experiences immediately. We experience the sights, sounds and smells of the world around us to our fullest extent.

Si: Introverted Sensing

Introverted Sensing is the storing of data and then the comparison of that data with other experiences. For example, when we see a movie that reminds us of another similar movie. Or when we see a person that reminds us of someone else. We also use past experiences to learn how to handle similar current situations. There is great attention to detail with Introverted Sensing.

Ne: Extraverted iNtuiting

Extraverted Intuiting involves seeing all possibilites of a subject and believing that each one has a possibility of being true. We can juggle many ideas at once, and find that this cognitive function makes it easy and enjoyable to brainstorm. Extraverted Intuiting involves coming to conclusions about ideas from one major idea. The idea implies relationships and smaller ideas.

Ni: Introverted iNtuiting

This function allows a person to gain a sense about the future by processing data through impressions and meanings. We find ourselves discovering how the future will be by signs, trends, and patterns. We will find relationships between many ideas, and find ideas similar to those ideas in order to look for a main idea that is made up of these smaller ideas. These ideas and similar ideas come to one main idea that will turn out to be true and give the sense of an "Aha!" moment.

Te: Extraverted Thinking

Extraverted thinking helps to create order out of chaos. They organize the environment through charts, graphs, outlines, etc. It allows us to pick out what is necessary and figures out the most efficient way to complete an objective. Extraverted Thinkers love a challenge because it attests to their skills. They will almost always follow through with a project.

Ti: Introverted Thinking

Introverted Thinking finds ways to express an idea that is to the point and concise. We analyze, categorize, and evaluate to figure out whether something fits into the larger framework. We figure out the precise problem of an idea or concept and then work to fix it. We often are checking for inconsistencies in the world, and we often take things apart to understand how it works. We use models to see how things should be, and look at both sides of issues to determine inconsistencies.

Fe: Extraverted Feeling

Extraverted Feeling involves considering other peoples feelings to a great level. We often try to help everyone get along, and we may often disclose our own feelings and take on others' as our own. We like to determine what will work best for the group in order to honor and consider everyones values and feelings. We accomodate ourselves and others by deciding what is appropriate and acceptable in that setting. We often use social graces by being polite, considerate, and appropriate. We often respond to people's expressed or unexpressed wants or desires.

Fi: Introverted Feeling

Introverted Feeling acts as a filter- it often is considering the worth of something based on the truth in which it is based. We decide whether something is worth standing up for based on its truth and significance. We often have feelings of a persons essence and this helps us to determine if something is fake or true. Introverted Feeling is often expressed through actions and feelings rather than words.

This chart shows how often we use these cognitive functions depending on what type we are. The first and second are most important.

INTP = Ti > Ne > Si > Fe
ISTP = Ti > Se > Ni > Fe
ENTP = Ne > Ti > Fe > Si
ENFP = Ne > Fi > Te > Si
ISFP = Fi > Se > Ni > Te
INFP = Fi > Ne > Si > Te
INTJ = Ni > Te > Fi > Se
INFJ = Ni > Fe > Ti > Se
ESTJ = Te > Si > Ne > Fi
ENTJ = Te > Ni > Se > Fi
ESFJ = Fe > Si > Ne > Ti
ENFJ = Fe > Ni > Se > Ti
ISTJ = Si > Te > Fi > Ne
ISFJ = Si > Fe > Ti > Ne
ESTP = Se > Ti > Fe > Ni
ESFP = Se > Fi > Te > Ni

------------------------------------------------------------------------

I still am somewhat trying to understand the cognitive functions since there is so much to them. Now of course these are only meant to figure out the way people cognitively process things, and I take it somewhat lightly. I find it interesting and helpful sometimes in understanding people, but that is pretty much it.
