  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Since there was all this test-taking going on in other forums (religious beliefs, what level of hell you'd go to, etc.) I figured I'd suggest a poll that will allow us to demean and laugh at... I mean, get to know each other better. :) So, I figured a personality disorder test was in order.

Hopefully we can do this truthfully, I know all of us here are freaks somehow, otherwise we wouldn't hang out here as much :) Don't feel bad if you find out you're a complete loon, it's alright. ;)

My results:

Paranoid: Low
Schizoid: High
Schizotypal: High
Antisocial: Low
Borderline: Low
Histrionic: Low
Narcissistic: Low
Avoidant: Moderate
Dependent: Low
Obsessive-Compulsive: Low

Pretty accurate, I think. I knew I was always really unsocial, and didn't really care to be. I suppose I can be schizotypal as well, I don't believe I have extra-sensory perception or believe in anything paranormal, but it's usually hard for me explain myself how others can understand me, especially when I have to do it by talking (hence I hang out at message boards, I can be much more eloquent and make more sense when I write). Avoidant, I'm not sure about, I'm not afraid of rejection, although I used to be which is probably why I'm schizoid now. I don't know about 'elaborate fantasy lives', either, although I have a very active imagination and often wonder about what life would be like in very different situations, like in the future with better technology, etc.

Strangely accurate, considering how oddly some of the questions were phrased (some of them seemed phrased as though neither answer seemed like it would be 'normal' or even apply to you).

Some of the questions were a tad situational; but still, fun test. I would say that id be at least moderate antisocial though.

Why don't they have job to go with these like:
Paranoia: High; Narcisstic: Very High, Dependant: Very High = you are likely a politician.
Show me, I want to know what combo of disorders makes me more suited to IT support or joining the CIA (or homeland security) - Do I have what it takes to be a prison guard?

The test is invalid. Personality disorders are specific dysfunctions. The test rarely made a distinction between functional and dysfunctional behaviors. In fact, in my professional opinion as a psychologist, you have to answer some of the negatively-charged questions in a way that would assess you as having a disorder simply because they are behaviors everyone engages in at times (e.g., seeking the approval of others).

You can take it for fun if you want, but safely ignore the results. You do not have the tendencies for the disorders listed. I'll also note that the questionnaire was not created by a professional psychologist or therapist, but by non-experts.

I'm surprisingly normal. That was unexpected.

Or unusual ;) Some of the questions listed correspond well to questionnaires on social desirability.

Well, I don't think this is entirely accurate at all, but here you go:

Paranoid:High
Schizoid: High
Schizotypal: Moderate
Antisocial: Low
Borderline: Very High
Histrionic: Low
Narcissistic: Moderate
Avoidant: Moderate
Dependent: Moderate
Obsessive-Compulsive: Low

It almost reminded me of the MMPI (Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory). Though the MMPI was longer and filled with questions that didn't particularly have an answer. If I recall it was true/false rather than yes/no. I found it to be an exercise in patience. I'm not sure how accurate my results were on that because without them clarifying some of the questions I refused to answer them. Perhaps, that said more about my personality than I thought. ^.^

I agree. Of course, I would hope that no one would actually take it seriously... but you never know.

This is odd, because I've been diagnosed Borderline as well as Histrionic, but I never believed the diagnoses anyway, because I basically grew out of it.

I agree, I don't take it too seriously. On the other hand, I've seen many tharapists and 2 psychologists and ALL of them described me as 'extremely schizoid'. Although they didn't use the word schizoid all the time but usually called me unsocial or antisocial. Which is funny because from reading the test results, antisocial seems completely different from what I thought it meant, and doesn't describe me at all. schizotypal seems to fit me pretty well, except for the whole 'interest in the paranormal' part.

It struck me as kind of funny that being unsocial is considered a disorder. It didn't really suprise me, since I've been prescribed countless medications to fix it, it just doesn't seem like it should be a disorder (but then, I suppose everyone with a disorder says that :)).

Heh...innacurate test, indeed. :)

Although, it does always rank me as "Very High" for schizotypal. Which is funny, because I actually have schizophrenia. And no medication anymore...I view it as life being interesting at this point in time.
