I would go to full legalization, including manufacture and sales of all drugs. The state could go into the business as well and fund the clinics with the revenues.

I agree for marijuana. That's like alcohol or tobacco and prohibition against it exists purely because much of society finds it distasteful. Cocaine and heroine aren't controlled purely because society finds them off-putting. They're actually destructive.

Alcohol and tobacco are comparatively 'slow acting' but far more destructive than the hard drugs overall, but don't cause the massive law enforcement costs of the others.

So much for American exceptionalism...

We are no different from the rest.

Correct, America is no different from the rest in that regard. It is another stolen nation, founded and built on racism, genocide, slavery, and white supremacy.

If I had my way I would have the states decide. if they want the trouble with teh benrfits of cheap labor they can build a borderlands for those people who are only working in the usa to live where they send their money to mexico. companies can line up factories along the border lands .
and if mexico wants to supply property in land to put mexican workers who are sending all their money to mexico then let mexico do it more inland . if one states says forget it it ain't worth it . then that is their right as a state to determine what they want for their states.

even lots of natives are all into Mexicans coming up here and taking jobs.
so let Mexico contract housing with them for Mexicans to live there on their REZ and work around there or whatever on their REZ 's .
and business can move around the reservations if that is the kind of life the reservations want . but it would with out a doubt be by choices and law and limits and such. I doubt any Rez would do that but they talk big when it is in some one else's household being invaded.. but they have the right to that option and so should the states.

No, America is not any different from the rest in that regard. It is another stolen nation, founded and built upon racism, genocide, slavery, and white supremacy.

Whole buildings are often raised up and their faulty foundations replaced with new ones. Such has happened in America. Slavery and genocide no longer exist, and racism is fading quickly. It's all good. Be patient.

If there was no incentive to come here, there would only be us here. People talk all about what it here, but they don't take into account what we do to bring others here. Would there be drugs coming across the boarder if there wasn't a market for them here? Would there be cartels in Mexico that slaughter and abuse their own citizens if they didn't have our money to pay for their influence? Would there be people crossing our boarder if the thugs down there didn't have the power to make life as dangerous as it is down there with the guns they bought from the proceeds of that very drug money?

Would there be anyone crossing the boarder looking for work if there were not employers who are willing to forget the laws that are already on the books for the profit that comes with employing these people?

Who is exploiting who here and I would seek these very people out because these are the reasons why a wall will never be built with any degree of reliability to do what it was placed there for.

Funny, I hear conservative minded people here all the time telling us that the democrats still have the blacks enslaved by social programs, and the support for Planned Parenthood allows a genocide the likes we may have never seen. Oh and racism is no longer an issue.

I wish people would get their talking points straight.

Our border is secure enough. I would pour all the funds you would pour into this barrier into reducing the negative effects illegal immigration has on our country and reducing the number of illegal immigrants residing within our borders.

If we poured all of our funds into stopping border crossings, we'd still have illegal immigrants already here or entering the country on visas and with border passes. This problem is solved by reducing the number of illegal immigrants faster than it increases each year. Pouring extra funds into our border is expensive and ineffective.

Just wait for racism to end? Has that ever worked? The end of such injustices have generally been built upon massive organization by the oppressed and their allies. Slavery ended after decades of active protest by Quakers and other allies, repeated slave uprisings, and the most deadly war in US history. Abolition of Jim Crow? Civil liberties? Both after extensive protest and revelation of widespread and systematic oppression. How about other countries. Apartheid? British oppression of India? all after massive organized protest revealing the scope of the abuses. Can you name any end of such oppression that resolved itself by just waiting it out?

Agreed! It's not the need for a wall that is keeping it on the front burner. It is the need for a distraction that dose.
What was bread and circuses to the Romans has become the wall and ideology to us.

Fear will never be overthrown by the passing of years. That which has born the burden of it will always be replaced by the emergence of something or someone new to react to. As long as people are comfortable in their ignorance there will be those who suffer for it. Complacency is the enemy of all and those who indulge in it are dead to the world that surrounds them.

Why does immigration matter this much to some people? Just wondering.
It gives people a scapegoat for the wrongness they see around them. Whenever there is less to share there will be those who will point out those who should have less or none at all. What is not surprising is hardly anyone points to themselves when seeking out those who should be sacrificed for the so-called common good.
