  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You do know that there is not a heaven for individual atoms which the peridoic table controls and then sends little baby to do his bidding?
Ya -- I kinda figured that.

It's simply a poetic way of expressing the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics -- nothing more.
Though I do sense a childs show could be made from that concept.
Might as well make a show out of it, then you could play god.

When God intervenes and so decrees, nature switches to cartoon physics mode.

Just checking, I know how you like to be literal :p

Hmm, cartoon physics, such fun.

Literalism leaves room for poetry -- the two aren't mutually exclusive.

This is why I believe Genesis 1 is written poetically, yet as literal as my phone book.

This bears repeating:

I believe God chose poetic amanuenses to write the Scriptures.

By that, I mean it decomposed.

If, for example, I say a parchment 'goes the way of the Periodic Table', I'm saying it 'decayed to dust'.

I write it as if something is decaying, and their individual atoms are going back to the Periodic Table for reassignment elsewhere.

Oh, I like that one, allow me to use it sometimes, it would make a great villain quote.

Help yourself -- I don't have a copyright on it -- :)

What I noticed as a sidenote, studying chemistry in junior high, and later in highschool the diffrent periodic tables said diffrent things. On one there was something called halfmetals on the other no such things was described.

Diffrent schoolbooks intpret science diffrently, does it not?

Oh good grief! It's not a different interpretation, it's building on basics. You don't teach calculus before teaching algebra, or multiplication and division before addition and subtraction.

I've been lurking here for some time and quite often lately I stumbled across a poster (not to name him) saying that something "went the way of the periodic table". I wonder what's that mean. I've alway thought that the periodic table is a powerful tool of modern science, tested and tried against errors and that everybody would think the same. So what's the problem with it?

This is not a silly thread and please try to stay on tracks

The Periodic Table is an example of the definitive work obver many centuries aim at claaifying and illustrating all the relationships betwen the 118 separate atoms.

What it demonstrates is that their is a subtle pattern to the way human collect and inter relate the information that they accumulate.

In all cases, the mind in a collective action organizes knowledge in all disciplines "the way of the periodic table."

For Jews who have long pursued the lost secret esoteric knowledge of Israel, this example below hints at what they can now discover in regard to their Kabbalah:

Maybe he just meant his copy of the periodic table. I tossed mine out after repeatedly failing to turn lead into gold.

Whoops. Sorry.

Actually, throwing out a table is part of the process.
The material which is organized seemingly in a satisfactory way fails to fit in all the pieces.

As the holes in the pattern become apparent, subconsciously we tend to focus on that missing piece of information.
New data and facts can suddenly inform us that there are holes because we can not actually apply the pattern to nature.

Usually, the process beings with the collection of four concepts that develop such as to enlarge in nimber as the discipline is further investigated.

The Alchemist went through this process, and as you joke here, they had to throw away the first idea, that all matter consists of varying degrees of Earth, Aid, Fire, and Water.

For instance, Aristotle expaned the concept into eigt idea, that allmatter can also be Wet, Dry, Hot, or Cold.

So Mendeleïev made a prediction, using his tool, wich later became true. Sound pretty regular to me.

The same situation exists today in Particle Physics.

Using this pattern applied to Quantum Particles indicates that one space is unfilled with a Boson, and suggests we find it or review the hold present concept.

(Perhaps if the Higgs Particle does not materialize, we will fall back on String Theory).

Of course the reason why this repeating pattern to our organization takes this form is that our whole nervous system is also ordered in a similar set of nerve groups.

That the ancient Hebrews understood that, while this pattern can be cast over whole academic Topics which have already been organized satisfactorily, the real power of the Jewish wise men, like Daniel, rested in their confidence that this secret knowledge of Israel could be used BEFORE we have gathered all the necessary info.

We can actually look for some set of seven entities which will ultimately develop into a dozen classes of concepts related to the seven.

We see this agaim and again in the Bible, esepcially in regard to how the prophecies were developed in the prediction of future Sociology.
Because of this set way that a subject under discussion can be ordered the Jews utilized their 22 letters of the alphabet as "place Holders" or locations for the members of each set.

The Jews came to call this Kabbalah, or "receiving," meaning understanding.

Very educational...

The Periodic Table has been used as an example by Artifical Intelligence researchers and helps support what I have posted above.

The idea I explain is that our mind has a pattern it throws over our thinking which looks for an certain organization of the material facts being used to make sense that we can accept of the matters under consideration.

Read this:

[Intelligence, AI and Symbolic Analysis
April 24, 2010

Intelligence is an umbrella term describing a property of the mind including related abilities, such as the capacities for abstract thought, reasoning, planning, problem solving, communication, and learning.
]

Problem solving is the most promising area of these from the point-of-view of symbolic analysis

There is much research on what is intelligence and how to define it (see more J. P. Guilford is one of them).
He explored the scope of the adult intellect by providing the concept of intelligence with a strong, comprehensive theoretical backing. The Structure-of-Intellect model (SI model) was designed as a cross classification system with intersections in the model providing the basis for abilities similar to periodic table in chemistry. [/

The three-dimensional cube—shaped model includes five content categories (the way in which information is presented on a test; visual, auditory, symbolic, semantic, and behavioral), six operation categories (what is done on a test; evaluation, convergent production, divergent production, memory retention, memory recording, and cognition), and six product categories (the form in which information is processed on a test; units, classes, relations, systems, transformations, and implications).

The intersection of three categories provides a frame of reference for generating one or more new hypothetical factors of intelligence

Mapping Guilford’s cube to Symbolic Analysis
An interesting idea is to map Guilford’s cube to symbolic analysis, the AHO objects. In the atomistic model every atom is a symbol and has a formal contents. Operations for atoms allow studying its impacts and transformations automatically (this is the AI-approach).

http://symbolicanalysis.wordpress.com/2010/04/24/intelligence-ai-and-symbolic-analysis/

I find it extremely coincidental to Guilford's Cube and this writers suggestion that thinking and organization is the crux of what Guilford is suggesting as one of the mechanisms of Intelligence, in particular, in regard to that amazing organizational idea of The Periodic Chart of the Elements.

The KOFH UNIVERSAL which demonstrates how it images the Chemical Periodic Chart of the Elements
