I am going to say something that might sound "unhelpful". But please don't dissmiss it and think about it deeply.

Many people get their careers and even their ministries and become "way too busy for God".

You are in a good place right now. You can stop yourself (you did not get stuck in a vicious circle of a career that you would have to give up...).

So stop and think about you and God. Is He your passion. Is He - something that means MOST to you in life. What occupies your thoughts and your actions most of the time - is it He or something else?

If it's not HE, use this time wisely and please, find HIM! Please, give HIM your time and your efforts (and your desires). Study the Bible, think about Him everyday, talk to Him. Try to build a strong and intimate relationship with Him.

Because no matter what purpose we have in life (and I believe we all do, no matter how small), the MOST important thing is to FIND GOD. And I don't mean to simply become a Christian, but to really truly find a daily communion with God.

Mate, ministry comes in all sorts of flavours. I minister a lot, and I'm not ministering in a church. HE will put people across your path.

If you want to strive for a football career, well make the effort and strive. Only you can achieve what your want by your choices and decisions.

Have you spoken to your church leaders or a mature believer at your church?

Blessings!

No, I haven't spoken to any church leaders b/c I had to move and I'm not really fond of any of the new churches in the area. I'm hoping to move back to my hometown this summer but for the time being, I just go to church but i don't really feel a connection like I did at my old church. So, no, I haven't spoken w/ anyone. I guess I'm just waiting until I move home where I feel comfortable.

Hi, that was good advice. I guess I'm just having a hard time understanding how God can be all that I think about. I mean, I pray and read my Bible (not everyday though) and go to church but now that I think about it, everytime I pray, I'm asking for help. Is that ok or is that selfish? And, most of my thoughts are consumed about my moving back to my hometown (b/c I love it. Go Chargers! :D) and I hate where I'm living now but I feel like God has me stuck here b/c everytime I try to move, something happens and I can't. I feel like He doesn't want me to move back....for some reason. Anyway, my thoughts are consumed w/ moving back and trying to find a career...and Him helping me do both of those. Perhaps that is where I'm wrong?:sorry:

I don't know how to change it. I've tried to find peace about living where I'm currently living but I just don't like it here. I don't have any friends, I had to move back in w/ family b/c, w/ my crummy job and low pay, I can't afford my own place and I miss my church. I could go on but I won't. How can I find peace in a place where I REALLY don't want to be...and I feel like God keeps closing doors when I try to move? This is another reason why I'm obsessed w/ finding what I'm supposed to do w/ my life b/c I feel loserish living w/ my family and I just want to get out and be on my own...and, of course, move back to San Diego.

Well, just find God first. And then He will give you the answers.

If God gives you your desires first, then you might not be compelled to seek Him.

And what is going to be the result of that?

You will get your desires, but you will lose your soul in the process.

God wants THE BEST for your soul. Submit to Him. But don't just sit there, SEEK HIM actively.

IF God is closing the doors, He has a very good reason for doing that. And that reason is for YOU! FOR YOUR GOOD! Really.

I wish you blessings.

I've found God. Am I missing something? I found God...I believe in God...I pray to God. I've asked God for guidance but I don't feel lead??

And, I agree about if we get what we want, we may not seek God but what can you do when you feel like you've found God. I feel like there is nothing else for me to do. That's why I'm wondering if I'm missing something...

When you say seek Him, you just mean read the Bible right?

About the closed doors, ugh! If He keeps closing them...shouldn't he OPEN one? I mean really, 2 years of constant closed doors and not feeling lead in any particular direction is frustrating. I don't know what else to do :prayer::confused: (Note: The only door that is opening is the door to be a sub teacher. Teaching is the only thing that I've ALWAYS said I never wanted to do. Why does He have me teaching? Ugh! I'm not meant to be a teacher...I don't feel like I have the patience for students who could care less about their work. I don't have a problem teaching kids who want to learn but most kids, in the district I'm in (fyi...the 2nd to last worst district in the U.S.), barely come to school and when they do, they could care less about their grades. All they do is come in class and I feel like I'm babysitting b/c I have to repeatedly tell them to be quiet, sit down, etc. It's DEFINITELY not how I want to spend my days and I've been looking for other jobs but...CLOSED DOORS! So frustrating...)

It doesn't just mean read the Bible. You are seeking Him. You're praying, you're asking questions, looking for help. You're seeking.

It's going to come, just sit tight. Keep an open mind. God just might want you to do something you don't want to do, because you would make a positive impact on someone's life while doing it. That's your real job, as a Christian. And working for God has some great benefits. Imagine... you are being a blessing to others.

Elijah2 is saying that you can make your ministry wherever you are, and that is 100% right. Not everyone will go to church, so how do we get to them?

In addition to reading the Bible...Praying? Check! Asking questions? Check! Looking for help...Check! So, I guess I'm seeking but not finding. But, I guess I agree w/ you...I need to sit tight. Lol. I think I've just kind of hit my breaking point and I'm on the verge of giving up b/c it's been to 2yrs and I'm starting to wonder if I've wasted it "seeking"...b/c nothing is happening. Maybe it's just a figment of my imagination. Lol. Not really but that's how I feel...just being honest.

And, I guess I can look at teaching as being a blessing to others. It's just hard, for me, to be a blessing when you want to go home (as in move back home), don't enjoy what you're doing, don't really want to be there (b/c I don't want to be a teacher) and you're not even surrounded by your friends. I guess I need to stop w/ the pity party. I originally posted this thread for help, but now I feel like I'm complaining and I haven't complained in a while. Guess i'm just venting...on an internet forum...like most of us do. Pray for me! :groupray:

I'll stop complaining! :sorry:

When we get caught up in a Catch 22 situation, we end up staggering and begin to stumble. Can you wait that long? But, what will happen if you don't move home in Summer, you could get worse.

As the old saying say: "strike while the iron's hot!"

I do understand the situation you are in by not being attached to your church, but you can't let your "self" continue in this mode, because it could lead to destruction.

Blessings.

FYI: There's an awesome post under Chrisitan Ministries-Teaching that answers this question perfectly. I finally understand...I guess I haven't received my answer b/c I've only 99% let go of what God has been asking me to let go of and I guess He's just waiting on me to listen. Hhhhmmmm. I kind of thought letting go of it 99% was a good percentage...I always try to have my cake and eat it too. Apparently, God's not having that. Lol. Anyway, anyone who's curious...check out the thread "How To Find God's Will For Your Life!"
