Being a “Pentecostal” (which, BTW, is an unbiblical identity) may be well and good providing you are not exclusivist in your use of the term and look on those who are not as being less than you or in some way deficient. The term “full gospel,” which some Pentecostals prefer, infers that those who are not “full” gospel are somehow lacking – i.e., they are not “full.” What are they, 1/2-gospel?1/4? 5/8? What? Does being “full” gospel mean that you have nothing left to learn? Is Pentecostal better than, say, Baptist or Methodist?
What is your point with this thread?
What if I told you I am an ex-Pentecostal? Would that change your opion of me?

Ease up, Jim. Hey, I noticed that her age and your age are reversed... ;)

I'm not sure, but I think what we may ask is if you mean Pentecostal as in United Pentecostal Church???

Otherwise, nearly all are "pentecostal" on the forum here. Some may consdier themselves as "Bapticostal" or "Charismatic".

The, I guess, we could get into all of the doctrines in order to sort out who is and who isn't... who is filled vs. infilled vs. baptized vs. smathered with the Holy Ghost...

who believes in healing.

who believes in speaking in tongues.

who believes in casting out demons from their mother-in-law... what?!? What?!?!?!?

Anyhow!!! Yeah, we're Spirit-Filled!

I do love my mix:

Pentecostal (First church that the Spirit brought me to my knees)
Lutheran (Church where I learned Gods Word being brought up and confirmed in)
Dispensationalist (Taught me how to rightly divide the Word of Truth)
WoF (Where I learned to stand on Gods Word)
Christian (what I am first and for most)

Pentecostal is amazing, I must say. But overall we are all united in Christ and are all Christians.

What many people mistake is that denominations within Christianity mean different religions which isn't true at all. People just prefer different styles of worship and preaching. Whatever brings you closer to God and gets you deeper in His Word is where you should be.

I am personally very in love with pentecostal (AG) churches. They get to me, and touch me. It's amazing.

lol.. woah that was somewhat confusing, but yea.. okay I didn't really know that there more than one kind of pentecostal. umm as to it being better the baptist or methodist, I couldn't tell ya cause i'm not sure what those two really are. to me I believe pentecostal is more open about there worshiping, free per-say, ummm yea. If you told me you were ex-pentecostal so my opinion would not change. so yea I think I got everything..

Full gospel refers to the belief in the baptism of the holy spirit and the practice of the gifts pertaining to the holy spirit, whereas non-pentecostal/baptist/charismatic/united churches generally do not believe that the gifts are for today and/or do not practice them.

Jim was saying that the use of the term "full gospel" appears to indicate that those who do not have those particular beliefs to have an incomplete gospel . To those who are not "full gospel" , it is a dergatory term aimed at them . It is similar to the Catholics always using the term "Protestant" to noncatholics . It is a derogatory term that is not applicable for all noncatholics . There are plenty of Christians who do not protest the Catholic group . They don't give them any attention at all .

That’s what it means to YOU. That’s not what it means, and certainly not how it sounds, to a non-“Full Gospel” person. It sounds, well, arrogant. And that's my point.

non-pentecostal? Not sure who you mean here. Baptist, I know many Baptist who practice differnet gifts of the Spirit. Charismatic are for sure churches that practice the gifts of the spirit! Heck, the root word of charismatic goes back to the term meaning gifts! United churches? Never heard of them.
