  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What games are your kids playing?

I have a few educational adventure type games (Freddi Fish & Spy Fox) that my sone loves.

He has also jusy finished Age of Empires 1 - a real time strategy game.

Any other sggestions that I should oook out for?

He loved these games. Is not big on the pure educational type games like "Spelling" etc.

My son is six and loves Reader Rabbit and JumpStart. He also has a Rescue Heroes game that he enjoys. I avoid the non-educational games. He has plenty of time to play them during life and right now since he enjoys educational games, that is what he gets.

The Age of Empires has other titles in it if he likes those. There's Age of Empires 2 and Age of Mythology. I haven't played them, so I don't know the content. My kids like the older Heroes of Might and Magic series--turn based strategy. They like the Disney related Kingdom Hearts for the PS2 and the Pokemon and Zelda games for the gameboy.

My kids love the JumpStart Collection for the PC. I have two girls so they also like the Barbie dress up games and those types of things.

We have a Nintendo GameCube and my 6 year old's favorites are Mario Sunshine, Mario Party 4, Mario Kart:Double Dash, Animal Crossing, Scooby-Doo and the Haunted Mansion, Finding Nemo, and Pikmin. We have Harry Potter Quidditch, but that's more for me...it's a little complex for her, yet. ;) We also have Kirby AirRide, but I can't ever play it with her because it makes me car sick, lol.

My 4 yo likes more mature games.... zoo tycoon, simcity, nascar, need 4 speed, train simulator, flight simulator, motorcross madness, and ahem.....several of my 'action' games that go bang bang (although I strictly limit his exposure to this!).

The games that we actually bought specifically for him - Tonka, Thomas, Lego series, and Blues Clues....he finds completely boring!

I think SimCity is great.

My son's 4 1/2 and he just loves it. He's learnt all the things you can do to build a city, although he doesn't know how to manage it - but it's ok. He just loves the building and house and traffic moving about.

You don't have to buy the latest / newest version. The older ones, like I have - SimCity 3000, is probably around $10, which suits perfectly.

My kids, aged from 3 to 13 love to visit www.bigideafun.com to play games with Bob and Larry, Larryboy, and the 1-2-3 penguins. They even have a Cheeseburger game that is another version of Pacman. These are good old fashioned arcade type games that the kids love to play. The overall favourit has to be Larry's singalong, which is simply a memory game, but instead of remembering pictures, you hit the record and listen to the silly song playing.
The kids are also getting a Veggietales games cd for Christmas.
