Somewhere along the way you need a jack of all trade. I use to do carpentry, electrical, drywall and plumbing. People would hire me because they needed a little bit of more then one thing done. It was just to expensive to have to hire two or three different people to do a small job. So it is difficult for me to understand how people can be so specialized and so ignorant about something that should be related to their field. For example I was talking to a guy who has a Phd in Physics the other day. I brought up something I had seen on a hour PBS show about quantum physics. He knew nothing about it and in fact he hates quantum physics. He never studied it and know nothing about it. So he has the Phd, but I watched a one hour show and know more about a physics theory then he does. I may know more about the physics of light then he does, because I worked with light and studied it in theater. But he is a expert on lymph nodes and proteins, because that is what he has studied and that is what he is currently working on. It is almost as if the system is cranking out cookie cutter absent minded professors. They are almost oblivious to anything outside of their area of expertise. They just do not have time to do anything other then what they do.
