What is it about deeply passionate people that is so incredibly attractive? I dunno why, but I always find myself incredibly attracted to people that have a passion, or a flare.... for really anything at all. I'm mostly refering to a passion for God, but passion in general seems to be such a wonderful thing.... although it can be misused or misplaced.

I dunno, I just think it's an absolutely wonderful thing. :D

Thats because passion is contagious energy. I remember sitting in high school career day class nad listening to a lawyer talk about the legal profession. In the end he had disuaded me and just about everyone in the class from pursuing law in our futures. Years later I met a guy who made me wish I had went to law school becasue he was so satisfied and enthusisastic about his profession. Such people are great "salesman" and can make you feel great about naything they are presenting to you.

Well, that's not entirely what I mean - I mean the pure and simple fact that they have passion, regardless of what they're passionate about.

I find it to be much more attractive than a person who lacks passion, for instance, but has a lot of physical beauty or intellectual awareness. It's the simple fact that they believe in something that's bigger than they are, and they're willing to pursue it to whatever lengths - although I'm highly preferential to a passion for Christ as their savior, any positive passion at all can be just as wondrous, imho.

Lacks passion and have a lot of physical beauty?
Well I am quite the opposite and no offense but
I would rather have someone with passion, a heart with the love of Jesus, and that they have heart and soul!

Must be a typo - I meant that I'd prefer them to be incredibly passionate. :D

I know what you mean. I'm the same way. Thats why I tend to find guys who write worship songs and are worshippers as a rule, so dern attractive :sorry: . Guys that have that whole davidic thing just tend to turn me into a puddle.

But men who are passionate about anything. Yes I totally agree with you. There's just something about them.

I agree with you, Intricatic.

As for why it's like that, I'm not sure, either. Maybe it's because I'm a passionate person and I just wouldn't understand someone who was lukewarm about everything. Maybe it's because I find that kind of energy encouraging. Or maybe it's that when someone has a lot of joy in their life, they are attractive.

I don't mean to say that a man has to be super-emotional or demonstrative in order to get my attention. What I mean by passion is being someone who cares about something, who recognizes that it matters. Thus passion for Christ is the biggie, naturally. But I can see other passions in addition to that (because if you have a passion for Christ, your others will probably tie in some way with your faith). If a man is a passionate Christian, and also has a lot of energy devoted to using a particular God-given gift or talent, that's awesome, too.

Oh yeah Intricatic? How come you didn't like my passionate stand against the Da Vinci Code, ay? You never told me that I was a cutie and I was pretty darn passionate.

Personally, I think that passion is one of the most attractive qualities anyone can have.

It's to the point where I would consider that even more of a priority in a relationship than physical beauty, or intellectual prowess. That passion can be the most redeeming of all qualities, imho. But wisdom is the only thing that overshadows passion, though that's an entirely different subject. :D

You've got a good point Intricatic. Reminds me of this entertainer (whom I've mentioned somewhere else on these boards) that I met last year. I always liked the guy's music but seeing his 'passion' for performing, entertaining and just making his audience feel good just blew me away. This artist is secular (an oldies group) but he gives credit to God for things and has done so in his shows. I think he has a passion for God as well as music and his 'ministry' is the incredible experience of his shows. This man is older than my own dad and I couldn't help but find him attractive watching him perform. (creeped me out in a way) He just has this energy that's almost 'magical' (for lack of a better word). I've actually said that the world needed more people like this guy (of course, preferably younger and single! lol).

It seems my passions outside of the deep love I have inside for Jesus are useless things. I have a deep passion for sports (read: hockey). Not sure where that's going to get me in life.... :) hmmm......

Meh, I have a ton of passions for things that probably won't get me "very far in life", but I get a great deal of contentment out of them. Personally, if everything I was passionate about was something that could advance my social life, or my financial status, I would think I would be an incredibly boring person. Not to say I'm not anyhow, but hey, who's counting? :D

A genuine love for people is something really appealing to me for the same reasons as passion, because it is a passion. Anyone willing to dedicate themselves to a carreer like nursing, or teaching has a quality that is so far beyond amazing and simply beautiful that I can't even put it into words. In a way, you could say that performing is basically the same thing... to be a good performer, you need a passion for the people that are coming to see you play. You get that emotional "high" from the reaction the crowd has to you.

I didnt read the rest of this thread besides the first post but here is my response. Its a quote from the book "Wild At Heart"

"Dont ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that, because what the world needs is people who have come alive!"
