Here's where TL found the 3-year cycle... It's a PDF file, and I can't say whether it's better or not either But I'll throw it out here just in case...

That chart is really confusing. Makes me hope we end up with the one year cycle.

LOL if you let your eyes focus it really is not so bad. It is just not set up in a table all nice and columnizied - LOL

Each weekly reading is listed by it's Name
Which in this case also happens to be the name of the book as it is the first reading in the book of Bereshit/Genesis.

Next it tells you the complete reading for the year in tyhe cycle - say year #2

Then it lists the breakdown of the 8 aliyot

year 1 1:1 – 2:3 year 2 2:4 – 4:26 year 3 5:1 – 6:8

1 1:1 – 1:5 2:4 – 2:9 5:1 – 5:5

2 1:6 – 1:8 2:10 – 2:19 5:6 – 5:8

3 1:9 – 1:13 2:20 – 2:25 5:9 – 5:14

4 1:14 – 1:19 3:1 – 3:21 5:15 – 5:20

That list seems to have the cycle ending in March. Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't the triennial schedule also end on Simchat Torah, just every third year?

DON'T ask ME! LOL I dunno nuthin from nuthin! TL mentions he thinks it begins anew with Passover since Passover is the first feast of the year. But whatever... we sure don't have to use this cycle even if you all decide to go with a 3-year set-up. We're easy to please, kwim?

Yes, you read the year one section of each weekly reading all year long, then the second year you read the year two section for ear week, and in year three you read the year three section for each week, finishing the Torah cycle on Simchat Torah of the third year.

This allows for more detailed study of each section each week.

theo only other way per tradition is the one year cycle - in this format I think that is just way too much to try to fully discuss and study each week - but lets see what others think!!

To me, it is going to be rather difficult, not to mention time consuming, for us to have one parsha for home/synagogue and a different one for here on the forums.



With this in mind, wouldn't you rather go to the one year cycle?

It is NOT a "different" p'rasha,
but a SMALLER portion of the IDENTICAL p'rasha.
For study purposes this is really easier and NOT more "difficult!"
