Painkiller :O

I played painkiller at a store not expecting it to be too bad

But I was horrified, I felt sick, by looking at these ghastly images I felt as if I have sinned

Therefore I cut myself to rid myself of the sin through my blood. However I still feel bad and I now have stitches

I don't really know what to do from here...I am confused and feel lack of the love that Jesus brings...I am confused...

This is the same feeling i had when i played doom3. i really felt bad for weeks. I have also tried cutting myself and i have to say i did feel alot better but other people dont seem to think it does :/

God never wanted us to beat ourselves up when we sin, it is the reason he sent Jesus to die for our sins. Remember that if you feel as if you have sinned against God, confess it to him and his gift of forgivness is there.

I can relate to what you said about Doom 3 though it was quite a horrific game but I would not go doing what you have done. I just stopped playing and put it away. We have to keep ourselves away from such evil. Yes I said evil because that game has some very demonic sequences in it.

cutting yourself will not purge sin. We humans can get rid of sin. Cutting yourself does nothing because Jesus died so you wouldn't have to shed blood. You displease God whne you cut HIS body. He likes to see you whole, and so do I.

Yeah, I won't be playing Painkiller or Doom3, thanks guys.

As said, cutting yourself will not purge you of sins, you must confess them outloud and ask for forgiveness of them. The Lord would never wish bodily harm upon us in order to please him.

Thanks guys, I feel alot better about myself. I am confused though as in someways I feel I have sinned by viewing the graphic images but in other ways I feel that it was not my intention so therefore I have not sinned - I don't know what to do :s

I wouldn't consider it a sin... you certainly didn't walk into the store and up to the game demo saying "I think I'll play an awful game that will make me feel terrible and separate from God today!" Spend some time in prayer would be my suggestion. Have a bit of a friendly heart-to-heart with God, I'm sure he'll understand your guilt and your confusion and offer you some comfort and solace.

As for the cutting, it only brings pain in the end. I'm sure God wouldn't want you to suffer meaningless pain for him, when he is the healing to all pain. I'd suggest talking to a minister about that as well, you shouldn't have to feel that is the only way to remove a sin from you.

Yeah, condemnation is from the devil, and it sucks too. Being tempted is not a sin, Jesus was tempted for 40 days. Giving into temptation is a sin, and that needs repentence. God is a loving father, He doesn't desire to smite you at every opertunity. He will punish unrepented sin though.

Wait wait...You felt bad for playing Painkiller, an action that is NOT sinful, and you cut yourself, which is an action that IS sinful...I'm perplexed.

Playing the game isn't bad. To be honest, in Painkiller and Doom, you fight Hell? Is that, in itself, if not out of context, good? Is that not what your striving for? To combat evil from taking over?

But at first I thought it was a sinful action, so I cut myself and now I'm scared I have tetnus (my family does not believe in chemical vaccinations)

My life is very strange so I found god and although he is helping me through this I'm very new to this and I'm confused in areas. Don't flame me please

I dunno about all this sin and cutting and whatnot, but Painkiller is an amazingly great old-school shooter, frantic and fun. You may want to risk it to play this one.
