  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't really know where I stand on this; it seems too in the middle. Do you believe his were divine? I know there was the acid people said he used to self-inflict it.

I believe he's a fraud who duped many, many people into believing his parlour tricks were real.

your not Catholic are you? have you read any books on St. Pio? Have you read any Church docs. on him? Have you read any of the many medical documentations on his stigmata? I guess you wouldn't believe it then if you have not done any research. But of course you are entitled to your "personal opinion", based on being un-educated on this subject.

Though not stated, I'd rather a Catholic view on this matter. Thanks for your contribution; sorry for not specifying.

My ex wifes Grandfather was one of the many secular Dr.'s who examined them. Their whole family converted.

I have read now in two non-academic sources that Pio of Pietrelcina's canonization did not recognize his stigmata. While the Church did dismiss those receipts showing his purchase of carbolic acid as irrelevant*, I think it did not confirm that particular phenomena.

*Apparently the Church distributed flu shots during the Spanish Flu epidemic, and carbolic acid was a popular sterilizing agent at the time.

Any comments, or sources to dispute this??:sorry:
