  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well we can't really talk that much about Trump's taxes since he failed to ever show his tax returns.

True, but the government has seen them and if he wasn't paying what he was legally supposed to, it would be news by now. Also, IMO the reason Trump hasn't released his tax returns has little if anything to do with how much tax he pays and everything to do with them revealing he isn't as rich as he claims.

He's a great, great leader and a great, great man. He isn't just someone who shows up and mouths off unnecessarily at an awards show.
he is not a great man or leader.
He mouths off unnecessarily on twitter instead of awards show

Again what did she say that was a insult?

I have wished for credible sources. Unfortunately you quoted the daily caller.

You'll note that I took the comments that Trump made at face value. My follow-up question was was it before the allegations came to light or after the allegations came to light. You did not answer that And all pics you post a series of links that are equivalent to the national Inquirer sorry I'm still wishing for a credible source

You don't consider Donald Trump's own words to be a credible source?

You're far from alone in that regard.

...only if someone thinks telling the truth is an insult.
tulc(is going to need some more coffee) :)

I agree, the truth hurts sometimes. As I already stated in another post, I am curious why Streep wasn't willing to tell the truth when Roman Polanski was honored in 2003 and she gave him a standing ovation. Maybe she needed some coffee.

Any actress you love?

Julia Roberts is terrific, and many others. Meryl Streep is excellent; she's a fine person, too. The problem is I'll name three or four or five and then the hundred that I know will be insulted, and I don't mean to insult them.

Nothing means anything any more.

I looked at her IMDB page...I've never seen any of those movies.

I've heard of three of those movies.

Hmm.
...I didn't even know they had movies in Westeros!

I have no interest in defending Roman Polanski. But I suspect Streep was honoring his work in the movie industry and not his questionable life choices. In the same vein, I am personally somewhat convinced that Michael Jackson was a pedophile. That doesn't, however, preclude me from enjoying some of his work. And had I been afforded the opportunity, I would have liked to attend one of his concerts before he died.

As for the idea that he mocked a reporter with a disability, debunked is the correct word.

He can be seen, in a video clip, physically mocking the disabled reporter. How, exactly, do you think that has been debunked?

No. What he can be seen doing in a video clip is a bad impression of a reporter. That, no matter what you may have swallowed down on Clinton News Network.

No. No. I refuse to believe that Trump would lie over a thing like how much money he has. Who would ever lie about such a thing?

What do you see as the difference between mockery and a bad impression? Why did Mr Trump feel the need to do an impression, good or bad, of the reporter at all? If he wanted to refer to the reporter, wouldn't simply referring to him by name have been preferable?

And no, it's nothing to do with "what I may have swallowed on the Clinton News Network". It's just to do with seeing the clip and seeing what looks to me like Trump perform a crude mockery of a disabled person. It's in poor taste, and not the sort of behaviour one should expect of the person who's going to become the US President in a few days time...

Yep.
And he didn't agree with the Iraq war.
And he didn't say that Saudi Arabia should get nukes.
And he didn't say that pregnant women were a burden to business.
And he didn't say he'd pay the fines for his violent supporters.
And he did not say that global warming was a hoax.
And he didn't say that the US could borrow to pay off foreign debt.
And no, he didn't say anything insulting about that reporter's disability.
No, of course not.
He's a great leader.
A great, great leader.
