  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

No. What he can be seen doing in a video clip is a bad impression of a reporter. That, no matter what you may have swallowed down on Clinton News Network.

Have you noticed what he says first. He doesn't ask "have you HEARD this guy?" No, he says to his audience "you gotta SEE this guy". And then begins his pitiful, disgraceful portrayal. He's mocking what the guy LOOKS like!

...and his talk was just talk.
If you brag about something, regardless of whether or not you've actually done what you brag about doing, you are showing approval of that action - you are demonstrating that you think it is something that is admirable.

Thus - Trump has told us that he thinks sexually assaulting women is something that is admirable for a man to do.

Trump approves of sexual assault.

That is enough to disgust me.

A bad impression of a disabled reporter and his disability... pretty much the textbook definition of "mockery."

Are people with disabilities to be exempt from having impressions of them done now?

Making fun of someone's disability... What's next? Trump doing an impression of CNN's Van Jones.... in blackface?

Yes, without question. Any human being with the slightest hint of integrity would not mock a disabled person.

Cute reply. I didn't ask about mocking though but rather about impressions. Sad if you don't know the difference.

Got any links from unbiased news sources unlike Clinton News Network and it's ilk?

Well, you reacted exactly how I thought you would, with denial. I expected you to dismiss the articles because none of what is documented in them confirming his bad behavior supports your narrative that he is not depraved and crude.

I have no interest in defending Roman Polanski. But I suspect Streep was honoring his work in the movie industry and not his questionable life choices. In the same vein, I am personally somewhat convinced that Michael Jackson was a pedophile. That doesn't, however, preclude me from enjoying some of his work. And had I been afforded the opportunity, I would have liked to attend one of his concerts before he died.
Of course it was a celebration of his work, the dude has made some terrific movies. IMO, i cant reconcile someone giving another person who gave a 13 year old alcohol and raped them, a standing ovation no matter how good he is at making movies. One would need to selectively turn a blind eye to their moral compass and evidently, take it back out when they need to protect a personal ideology. I have found, hollywood in general is not the place to go, to be educated on moral behavior.

I cannot imagine any reason to do an impression of a disabled person, as you claim Trump did, unless it was to mock the person. I have never met anyone, with the slightest hint of integrity, who would do something like that, let alone someone who said they are Christian. But I have known bullies who would have had no problem 'doing an impression' of a disabled person.

So you don't have anything there than that from Clinton News Network and it's ilk. Good to know.

There are people with disabilities who are public figures. They should be as open to having impressions of done of them as should other public figures.

, said the pot to the kettle.

If you are prosocial and have interacted with other humans you can distinguish insult from "impression". Did it appear to you that Trump was being complimentary in his "impression"?
What were the signs to you that he was not mocking and simply doing an "inpression".

Here are my reasons for thinking it was an insult;
1. It happenned at all
2. Trump was expressing frustration with the dude.
3. He was over exagerating the disability. Impresssions are meant to realistic not hyperbolic.
4. He got some laughs.
5. As mentioned, he said "you gotta see this guy". Between these words and thw tone of his voice, it is clear he is not aboit to do something balanced and rational but something vindictive.

Those are some of my contextual reasons for decoding his nonsense as an insult. Can you provide thesame?

You are making far too much sense.
