CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It would probably be more correct to say that he owed no taxes than to say he didn't pay them.
I'm sure his plan to make massive tax cuts to the top earners will work out great.

The original point was in re to Trump allegedly planning on declining taking a salary as President, & I pointed out that that salary would amount to way less than the taxes he didn't pay for years. Maybe you're right that he exploited a loophole after losing almost a billion dollars in 95 which allowed him to not owe them. Regardless he not only acknowledged not paying them he bragged about it. He also refused to ever release his tax returns.

He'd be in prison if he didn't file his taxes. If he didn't owe anything, then I can't blame him for taking advantage of a broken tax system, I'd blame the politicians who created the broken system.

If you earn a high enough salary you have to pay taxes on it no matter your age. Well I'm sure if you've got a $$$ accountant you can find a way around paying them, but we believe paying your taxes is part of being a good citizen. My parents are big on us being responsible. I already have my certification in piano & cello am almost finished with the one for violin. I have been teaching for a couple of years already. The pay at the music centre is based on your certifications & how many students you have, not your age. Lots of kids pick me to teach them. So I'm doing pretty well already!
I pay taxes in the US & in Canada. We're American but we live in Canada. I have shares so I have to pay US taxes on them.
