Miracle or Coincidental???

For those not aware, today 13May2011 is the anniversary of the Fatima apparitions and also the anniversary of John Paul assassination attempt which we catolics believe are linked to the fatima visions:

It seems that pilgrims celebrating the Fatima anniversary today experienced another unusual phenomenon.

Before the traditional goodbye procession, the thousands of pilgrims present in the Fatima shrine precinct were focusing their looks at several screens where it was being shown a documentary recounting the moments in the life of John Paul II and his connection to Fatima.

When the first images appeared on the screen, people started to direct their look to the sky, where a halo, with the colours of the rainbow circled the sun. There were tears rolling on the face of many pilgrims who claimed to be witnessing another "miracle", while many others took out their cell/mobile phones to record the phenomena pointing then towards the sun.

When footage about Sister Lucia, the Fatima visionary, pilgrims concluded, the sun was scorching, pilgrims who remained in the sanctuary until the end applauded.

The international pilgrimage anniversary celebrations ended with the traditional procession of farewell, when the image of our lady of Fatima left the altar to the Chapel of Apparitions, while thousands of pilgrims waved white handkerchiefs and many threw flower petals at the feet of our lady.

That isn't how the actual miracle of the sun appeared at Fatima.

The Miracle of the Sun (Portuguese: O Milagre do Sol) refers to an event on 13 October 1917, when 30,000 to 100,000 people gathered near Fátima, Portugal, to witness an expected miracle. Three young shepherd children had predicted that at high-noon, the Blessed Virgin Mary would appear in the Cova da Iria fields.

According to many witness statements, after a downfall of rain, the dark clouds broke and the sun appeared as an opaque, spinning disc in the sky.[1] It was said to be significantly duller than normal, and to cast multicolored lights across the landscape, the shadows on the landscape, the people, and the surrounding clouds.[1] The sun was then reported to have careened towards the earth in a zigzag pattern,[1] frightening some of those present who thought it meant the end of the world.[2] Witnesses reported that their previously wet clothes became "suddenly and completely dry, as well as the wet and muddy ground that had been previously soaked because of the rain that had been falling".[3]

Estimates of number present range from 30,000 to 40,000 by Avelino de Almeida, writing for the Portuguese newspaper O Século,[4] to 100,000, estimated by Dr. Joseph Garrett, professor of natural sciences at the University of Coimbra,[5] both of whom were present that day.[6]

The event was attributed by believers to Our Lady of Fátima, a reported apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary to the children who had made predictions of the event on 13 July 1917,[7] 19 August,[8] and 13 September[9]. The children stated that the Lady had promised them that she would on 13 October reveal her identity to them[10] and provide a miracle "so that all may believe."[11]

According to these reports, the event lasted approximately ten minutes.[12] The three children also reported seeing a panorama of visions, including those of Jesus, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and of Saint Joseph blessing the people.[13]

I have seen many such rings around the sun . . . I see nothing special about what is in that video.

It was a snap shot in the Fatima video, there isn't much to see.

And with the rings around the sun, you need to ask yourself, why did it happen at that exact point in time. Is everything a natural coincidence or is God using natural processes at important moments to show us He is there.
