Hi

If we presume that it's not only demons in the spiritual world...

Spirits are not toys that you call at your services, wen you do spiritism, by ouija board, automatic scipture, or chanelling, you don't know who will answer to you. And most of the times they will give you answers that you want.

Real inspirations and answers come with prayers and patience not with a phone call to the other side.

I see now that this is an older thread, but voted before I saw that. ;)

We had a Ouija board when I was a kid, as did my cousins. You don't need two people to play it and it works with just a tip of the finger barely touching the triangle. It does not work with the little metal needle removed.

We used to ask it questions that we didn't know the answer to, but that could be verified by our parents (age of other relatives, what time did our parents go to bed the night before, etc.). That thing was never (ever) wrong and we never got garbled messages.

I voted on the "evil" side, but really, it's more of an "unknown" than anything. I won't mess with them anymore and will not allow my children to either. My oldest daughter had a friend over recently and I walked into the room as my kids were pulling a Ouija board out that she had brought. They were not intending to play it right then, but just looking at it. My kids asked me, "What's this mom?" After my heart restarted again (lol) I calmly requested they put it away and not play it. My son asked again what it was, and I told him it was a Ouija board and was used to speak to spirits. My kids, who are very respectful of both myself and my husband, immediately put it away without further question.

My dd's friend, on the other hand, said very snidely, "Oh. Superstitious??" I stopped, looked her in the eye and said, "No, I'm not. And I would appreciate if you did not play that game in my house."

I thank G-d for my children each day. ;) Now, when they are a bit older, if they want to mess with that thing, that is their perogative, but not in my house.

I use to mess with the ouiji board when I was 13 yrs old. I also did automatic writing. That stuff is evil! I remember I even argued with the spirit and then had a week that scared me big time! One night I was lying in bed reading, or watching tv, when all at once the window started shaking as if someone was trying to break in. I screamed "MOMMA!!" My mom did not wake up. It was as if she was out cold! Then, later that week, with my mom, we drove up an incline to the landlord's house. My mom got out, left the car motor going. She was just going to leave the rent check in the landlords' door. The next thing I knew, with me in it, the car started rolling down the hill and it really freaked me out! Fortunately, the car rolled off and hit a wooden fence and stopped. But needless to say, I was really freaked out! I can't remember when, but one night when I was playing with the ouiji board, it told me that it was commanded not to communicate with me anymore and that it was told to tell me that something wonderful was going to happen to me. It hated doing this. It acted as if it was in dread and told me it couldn't speak to me anymore. It was soon after that, that I came to know the LORD and it wasn't until later that I remembered and I realize, the LORD ordered the evil spirit not to communicate with me anymore and the part about something wonderful was going to happen to me was me being Saved! I of course, after being saved, renounced the occult and threw my ouiji board in the garbage(I wanted to break the board but couldn't--it was too hard to break over my knee).

The spirit "realm" you can say is like a different dimention all around us, I know this might not be the best way to put it but I might go more into it later.

Ask God and He will show you Rev, the Bible could not have possibly been thought up by man, there are things in the Bible that were not possibly known to man.

God Bless
Well, if it wasn't thought up, written by, man, why are there chapters included/excluded, and what about the dead sea scrolls? And what was in the bible that couldn't have been thought up by man? Name them.

I agree with Alessandro on this one. The Ouija board is a tool used by Satan to manipulate people via the Spritual world.

I used to 'play' with them before I became a Christian; I never left with a good feeling. My sister and I used to use it frequently for fun; it worked. I remember once asking the spirit where it was; it replied "In Hell". That is but one frightening experience I had with it. Also, my brother who was saved and I tried to use it; it wouldn't work.

My brother was protected by the Holy Spirit and the evil spirit could not work through him. This is my experience.

PEACE IN CHRIST!!!
You should've asked what's it like down there, is it very hot, are there circles or different levels in Hell like Mr. Dante Alighieri said in his Divine Comedy, is there a Purgatory, etc.

This is assuming that such things actually work. Of course, they don't. Seems quite boring to me that people would be quite content to commit a sin by using the Ouiji board, and then they don't even bother to get anything out of it like some real juicy answers. Why, if I were going to be paganistic and consult spirits through a Ouiji board, I'd ask it something real interesting like, "How am I going to die?" or "Are there any really famous guys in there with you?" or "Can I get their autograph?"

So a car slipped out of park and rolled down a hill? Now there's an innovative demon for you. And your window shook? The wind maybe, and your mom was really tired, or just didn't hear you? You are so sensible, I can't believe you use this information to believe in demons.

I disagree. I think the Bible is not inspired by the Holy Spirit. That's why I believe most the things that Jesus said, and treat with skepticism the things that everyone else said. So I believe the words that are in red (my Bible has the words of Christ in red) and only acknowledge the things that are in black.

Jesus even said that some of Moses' laws were wrong. Case in point: the adulteress.

I see Captain Howdy doesn't have many friends here... :D

I see the board as something to break out when the party starts to die. Urban myths tend to make poor tools for contacting the dead/undead. Despite this, there have been occasions when the board (or whatever the person used) worked--but only because they were focused and correctly used the energy around them.

To those who have experienced odd happenings and "evil" encounters--either you called it upon yourself or you reached a point of communication between you and yourself. Sometimes people use bizarre methods of self-therapy, I should know.

The board is not evil, just as candles and matches used by an arsonist are not evil--the evil done, is done by the user.

Oh you mean like mass-produced idustrialized christian bumperstickers, rosaries, plastic jesus and mary statues, t-shirts, bibles (in stores and every hotel dresser drawer), three or four television stations (that I have seen), televangelists, numerous radio programs and channels, CD's, videos, posters, and don't forget your 10 dollar 2 oz bottles of "holy water" at your local Christian store. Yeah I do think that's humorous.

Sincerely,

No, that WOULD be humorous if, as Ouija boards, these items claimed to themselves some sort of supernatural power.

But they don't.

Where on the box does it say... ingredients: supernatural energy - 5 oz., one lost soul sent out by the devil - 18 oz., and your full days worth of calcium!

No where to they say that they have supernatural power and I agree, they don't. It is simply a tool that is believed to help bring out the subconcious even "psychic ability" of the user.

And I would also like to add that they weren't originally created to make a profit. It was a tool that was made with the philosophy that it could create the result that I just mentioned. Later on it was marketed. That would be like saying medical supplies were originally created to make a profit. No they were originally created to help those who were in need of medical attention, and in the world we live in now they are marketed.

Sincerely,
Rev. DSD

I'm really late on this thread. But perhaps my 2 cents might be of interest to someone.

When I was in grade school, a girl brought a Ouija board to school one day. A couple of friends and myself were in a classroom by ourselves when she brought her board and asked us to participate with her. I joined in out of curiosity. I had never heard of Ouija boards prior to this. If I remember correctly it was 3 of us. We each put a hand on this triangle shaped item I believe it was. The girl said, "Ask a question. THis board has a spirit in it that will answer you." The board contained the alphabet and numbers on it. My friend asked for its name. And the trianglular item began to move and went a letter on the board of which the letter chosen was revealed in the middle of the triangle. It did this a few times until it spelled out the name Axle. My friend was a Guns n Roses fan back then so he thought it was cool that the spirit had the same name as Axle Rose, the lead singer of Guns n Roses.

I then asked for its age. The triangle again moved to the number 8. The spooky thing was that our hands was on the item the whole time and none of us was moving the item. At the time though, I didn't think that the spirit idea was real and that surely the board had some kind of magnetic mechanism that caused the triangle to move. My friend accused the girl of moving the item, of which she denied.

Oh yeah, I also remember that we had to have the lights off in order for the so-called spirit to work. I'm a pretty down to earth fellow. I'm always skeptical of wild stuff like this. But, having read the Bible and understanding that there is a spirit world, looking back on that little Ouija board incident, it could've very well been some kind of spirit. But I still manage to stay skeptical of stuff like that. The last thing I want to do is start getting "out there" and before you know I'm seeing space aliens and goblins and wierd stuff with the Twilight Zone music playing in the background.

^_^ Which is one reason I think the board is not what people think it to be. When people have a perception about something they expect to find what they believe should be there. Personally, I don't think the board has any powers now that I think about it. I think the power is in the mind. The mind operates on spiritual levels and if you REALLY believe that board connects you to the spirit world it's your belief that put you there not a wooden board mass produced in a factory.

What's interesting to me is peoples beliefs that only demons exist in the spirit world. That they believe that the spirit that is communicating with them is evil. Sad really. It never occurs to them that A) angels are just as much spirit and can also commune with you and B) people do not have enough spiritual maturity to even know the difference. It's odd to me that their first belief is not that an angel has spoken to them but a demon. That a person is more convinced of speaking with a demon than speaking with an angel. As if they feel than an angel is LESS likely to commune with them.

Some Christians do not realize it but honestly some have more belief they will encounter Satan and his angels than God and his angels. I can tell by how they post and talk. They are more concerned about running into Satan in some way than running into God.
