Ouija Boards

Ouija Boards, what do you think?

  • I am Non-Christian: I think more evil comes from them then anything else.

Here is my problem right now. I'm looking at the responses on this thread and I am not seeing anyone specifically answering questions. Given it is obvious that this thread is more about opinion then fact. Also, This big conversation about the bible. You know what I am non-christian, I can't deny that. I am not attempting to prove the bible wrong, but if you (christians) are going to sit there and just tell everyone else they are wrong without backing it up then I don't want to here it. Everyone here is getting defensive but everyone is just dodging questions.

I also can't believe that Alessandro made a comment about people taking the bible out of context. Many of the miraculas things that Jesus does in the bible NEVER HAPPENED! If you want to talk about taking things out of context then let's look at the fact that Jesus NEVER walked on water. In fact it is a translation error, walking on water at that time ment that he walked next to it on the shore.

My complaint isn't weither the bible is "right" or "wrong". But if you (the bible reader) aren't even going to think about what you are reading but the fact that "this is the truth, no matter what, I don't think about it because I don't need to, and anyone who doesn't read each sentence the way that I do is wrong and that is what I think and I don't care what you think or what books you have read because I am right and you will always be wrong because your not following the same religion that I am." Then that is B.S. and the conversation is over. I am willing to debate and defend the reasoning behind my beliefs. And I have even realized that what I beliefed didn't make sense from time to time and changed it just because a simple debate. But if your only defense is, because the bible says it, the bible is right, and I don't care for the fact that I have just been turned into a bible robot that has no ability to discuss, debate, or reason in any way, then just tell me so I don't waste my time.

Sincerely,
Rev. DSD

P.S. This isn't aimed at anyone specific, and if I offended anyone, I'm sorry, but I won't take it back. Think of it as my personal "I'm right, your wrong, and I don't care what you think."

Thats because it is impossible to defend the undefendable without obviously being unreasonable, so it's best trying to dodge the question.
I think that pride has a lot to do with it. At the end of the day Reason wins every time.

The only way any Holy Script can be proven is ony with in the heart of who ever is reading them. That's it.

the Book of the Dun Cow?!?
...

The Dun Cow ( if it's the same book that I am thinking of) was written by the purple faries that live on the planet of Zircqat. It was these purple faries that made the World and everything in it, including the entire universe.

If anyone can proove that the World was not made by these faries, then this will show beyond doubt that it must indeed be true. Least that seems to be the argument that many believers here are makeing.

The Book of the Dun Cow is one of the six major works of Ancient Irish Celtic Literature. They include the Book of Leinster, the Book of Dun Cow, the Book of Ballymote, the Book of Lecan, the Yellow Book of Lecan, and the Book of Lismore.

You're thinking of the Book of the Darn Cow, from Zircqat.

How do you know it never happenend REV?
Now we can go back and forth about this. For instance I could ask "How do you know it DID happen? And of course your response would probably be that it says so in the bible. Now my point is that Anthropologists, Archeologists, and other specialists with PhD.s in their specific fields have realized many errors in areas such as translation. This was merely one of them. Unfortunately I can not find any documentation to back it up, but I can tell you were I learned this specific example. Late one night I was sitting up watching a special on TV centered around biblical miracles. Not only that but it was on one of the three CHRISTIAN CHANNELS that I get. So if you are going to make the comment that many people misinterpret the bible, consider the possibility that you are one of them.

Now I am not saying that nobody here knows what they are talking about, however I will stand by my point that many people need to read the bible, think about EVERY aspect of what they have read, read it again, and think some more, before they start using the defense of "I read it so it is true." Think of it as a biblical version of the old game "operator". You start with one idea, and by the time it gets to the last person, it normally doesn't resemble the original idea at all.

Sincerely,
Rev. DSD

The "Book of Ballymote'!!! bloody hell!!!! I used to live there, it's in Co Sligo. It's the ****hole of the World. Most who live there call it Ballyremote.

Ah yes, darn cow, that's the one,

Ps I'm sure this will please you. There is a strange place very near to Ballymote, it is called Kesh, it looks like a miniature grand canyon. There are several ancient stone tombs there that are many thousands of years old. The christians have recently errected large crosses at the front of each tomb. I expect they are turning in their graves.

I think we might want to get the new question to be something that sort of relates more closely to the title of the thread so people know what to expect....
But in my opinon: maybe. I think religion in general is not a good thing when it becomes too static. I think spirituality is very important to the human experiance and human evolution (wether one endorses creationalism or evolution does not really pertain to this point because even if we were created we could still evolve beyond what we are if we try I should think but that's neither here nor there and there are about 10 threads on the subject in the Science forum for those with an interest in debating the point) and I think that religion facilitates spirituality, but only when the individual is truely able to relate to the religion and use it as the tool it is meant to be to develope greater sprituality.

Do I honestly know how they work, no... however I have seen them work, many times. So the question I am really asking in this post is what do you think.

I'm one of those Christians that believe that demons are involved. Of course, they manifest when and how they choose and not necessarily to everyone that uses a ouija. Sometimes it could be the person moving it themselves. But I've read stories about people who've become involved in them and the demonic manifestations that followed. FWIW, that's my opinion.
