Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Just one short question:
Do you have a mind and opinion of your own, or is quote mining using up all computational power of your brain?
LOL --- this is solid aurum.

This is what we get when when we quote others.

When we don't, and think for ourselves, like water on Neptune, etc., we're everything from a freak in a freak show, to a cultist.

Solid aurum.

Wouldn't ya know it... ad hoc answers and appeals to authority are both logical fallacies! Do you have any arguments that aren't fallacious? You know, based on valid logic and evidence?

Why do you persist with using this appeal to authority?
Not an appeal to authority unless you acknowledge the fact that Stephen Smith is in fact an authority. Since we both agree that Steve Smith is in fact an authority, then I'll tell you that it would be just as true if a janitor at McDonalds, Cinderella, or the Tooth Fairy said it.

I love when you quote others. Just make sure to include references (web link, book, paper, etc).

When we don't, and think for ourselves, like water on Neptune, etc., we're everything from a freak in a freak show, to a cultist.

The water on Neptune, according to you, was a warning to angels.
Fossils in coal, according to you, were created by an ancient race by rolling heated coal around in leaves.

Some of your ideas, though you are free to have them, are based in neither the Bible or scientifically testable.

I could claim the sky is blue because unicorns eat rainbows and poop clouds but it doesn't make it true. We know why the sky is blue.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Black holes of course can be observed through their interaction with other matter
Scientists say otherwise.

Black Holes

But what you won't see -- even with a telescope -- black holes! In fact, Miller doesn't even use one to study black holes. He uses his computer.

***

and scientists have identified many candidates for probable black holes.
Fairy tale authors have imagined and identified many candidates for probable dragons.

Sagittarius A* for example.
Not a black hole.

http://www.extinctionshift.com/SignificantFindings01.htm

Gravitons and gravitational waves are two possible explanations for the observable phenomenon of gravity. There has been no compelling evidence for either of them thus far.

Dark matter is another explanation of an observable phenomena.
Likewise unicorns and fairies.

That is that galaxies spin in a way that would be impossible if they were only made of light matter.
Impossible only if you believe in the myth of gravitation.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
And if there was such a thing as evidence (for creatio ex nihilo), I know exactly what unregenerate scientists would be saying:

"Prove it was your Jehovah Who did it."

Science is a bag with holes --- the more you put in, the more leaks out.

We now have that extraordinary evidence.

"The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands." -- Psalm 19:1

"Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it to them." -- Romans 1:19

you have no idea what an appeal to authority is do you? an appeal to authority would be taking anyone's word as long as they make up a good story for you, even if they have no clue what they are talking about.

which is purely why you believe some ESPN anchor over scientists, because you would believe anything if it jives with what you already believe.

i don't accept him as an authority because he is some random guy who wouldn't know anything about science if it bit him.

if true things are true no matter who says it, the experts wouldn't be
saying something different, they would be saying the things that are true, because they would know it already.
i expect experts to know more about modern science than, some random philosopher, some random scientist from +100 years ago, or some random fringe snake oil salesman.
i mean if the evidence points to the stuff you peddle, you could present real evidence and not just quotes.

Why do you think Jews are clueless?

Because you're antisemitic?

How do you explain the fact that the Egyptians, Babylonians, Greeks, Romans, Chinese, and Mexicans all corroborate the tales of these allegedly "clueless" people?

Were they all conspiring with the Jews using time machines?

You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it does. ^_^

They don't.

Because they were all ignorant.

It's probable that they all believed lightning and rainbows were the works of supernatural beings too.

Forgive me for not being swayed by your argument that because a bunch of ancient civilisations all believed something sort of similar, it means that your belief (but not theirs for some reason) must be true.

LOL. Says the teenager.

"Each generation imagines itself to be more intelligent than the one that went before it, and wiser than the one that comes after it." -- George Orwell, writer, 1945

Planets are not supernatural.

Planets are real.
