A fleeing Taliban, desperate for water, was plodding through the
Afghanistan desert when he saw something far off in the distance.
Hoping to find water, he walked toward the object, only to find a
little old
Jewish man at a small stand selling neckties.

The Taliban asked, "Do you have water?" The Jewish man replied, "I
have no water. Would you like to buy a tie? They are only $5."

The Arab shouted, "I need water! I hate you and I should kill you,
but I must find water first."

"OK," said the old Jew, "it does not matter that you do not want to
buy a tie and that you hate me. I will show you that I am bigger
than that. If you continue over that hill to the east for about two
miles, you will find
a lovely restaurant. It has all the water you need. Shalom."

Muttering, the Arab staggered away over the hill. A few hours later
he staggered back and shouted angrily at the old man, "Your brother
won't let me in without a tie!"

I ordered a LDS Bible off of their website. Missionaires will officially deliver it to me and talk to me about the church. I've got mixed feelings about it; please pray for me. :)
Do you mean the Book of Mormon? (That is not the LDS Bible.) :)

No. It's actually a KJV but I hear it has Mormon footnotes. So I called it a LDS Bible. I might be wrong but the footnotes I think may be from Joseph Smith.

Yes, that is correct. I wasn't sure which you were talking about, some do call the Book of Mormon, the Mormon Bible.

They do print a version of the KJV with footnotes by Joseph Smith. There is a version printed by the RLDS church that actually incorporates the changes directly into the text (but I wouldn't suggest getting that version.)

I doubt that I will get any more chance to make any posts on this site, as I am off to England tommorow morning, and still have to pack. On Wednesday morning I go to Preston MTC, and then after 2 weeks there, I go to Dublin, where I will find out where exactly in Ireland I will serve first.
So I will speak to you all in 2 years time:wave:

I wish you the very best and hope that you will keep your eyes on your goals and do your best to let the world slip away for the next two years.

I thought maybe this would be a good place to begin and say hi. UT is most likely the only place I will post, so I will introduce myself here in the fellowship thread. I am from California and a born in the covenant lifetime LDS. I am currently reading The Miracle of Forgiveness by Spencer W. Kimble. By far the best book I've ever read. I am the Scoutmaster of our ward's Boy Scout troop. I'm looking forward to scout camp in a week and a half. I am married and have two daughters. This place looks lively and I look forward to reading and responding to posts as much as I can.

Just make sure you don't stop reading it halfway through! ^_^

That would be like singing only the first three verses of "I heard the bells on Christmas day".
