  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Okay, this has been a weird few days.

First, hubby decides we are going tenting in VA (Grayson Highlands area). I hate tenting!! Sleeping on the ground holds no appeal and the air mattress tends to not hold air thru the nite. Woke up at 3am uncomfortable, in pain* and unable to breathe--all due to the mattress swallowing me! Moved to the van where I was no longer in pain and able to breathe, but, having no spare blanket, I was cold.
Other than that the trip was fun--we went hiking and saw the wild ponies, cooked on the campfire and made smores.

I'm going camping at the end of next week. If you ever come to Ontario, try camping at Cypress Lake, near the end of the Bruce Penninsula between Lake Huron and Georgian Bay. The whole area is a mecca for scuba divers with shipwrecks, limestone grottos, and the Niagara Escarpment running throught it. Of all the campsites I've been to, this one is truly unique.

There's nothing like camping in a thunderstorm, the feel of water running under the tent, the roof saging under the weight of water, the tent posts coming loose and the knowledge that lightning could hit a nearby tree at any time. We sang "Closer my God to Thee, closer to Thee," just like they did on the Titanic,

Ontario--as in Canada?? I grew up across the river, and the border, from Kingston Ontario. I still love that area best-I miss my river and the islands.

Hi bigsierra! I didn't think I had seen you around these parts for a bit. How was your vacation? I hope you had a good and relaxing one!

I know of a way to make that green bean casserole even better.....just leave those green beans out all together! :p :D

I was in southern Missouri. We went to Table Rock lake, made a drive through Branson, then went to Cassville, near Roaring River.

While we were there, we visited the church in the town we were near. It seem pretty cool. Their response was loud and clear in the responsive portions. They had a new priest, who was preaching his first sermon there. Of course it was the typical get to know you message, on greed, selfishness and being prepared for death. :)

It was great to see some place new.

It's great to be back home too. :)

Neat pics! Glad you had a good time. Did you go fishing? When I went to KY, we went out on the lake one night. We had just anchored and started to eat dinner when we found ourselves in the middle of a big Bass competition. The competitors would speed by us in their bass boats and the waves would rock us quite a bit. Needless to say, eating was quite an experience that night! :D

I like attending church in different churches when I travel just to experience different services. See how they do things, how we are different and how we are alike.

My harassing of bigsierra and his green bean casserole have come back to haunt me....

A couple of times a year, the place I work for gets together and has a cook out or a covered dish dinner or a breakfast. We are getting ready to do a cook out. I was working with my boss to get things lined up and we were going over what we were going to have. We have a small staff, so I like to try and fix what I know are people's favorites or what they request I fix. So I asked him what he wanted, a ham and bean casserole, macaroni casserole, scalloped potatoes, just what was his request. He looked at me and said "You know what I would like? You think you could make one of those green bean casseroles? I really like those." I just burst out laughing. He had no clue why I was laughing. I said sure, I'll make one. How can I turn the boss down, right?

So, here I sit, surfing the web, looking for a recipe, planning to make one of those green bean casseroles.....

Oh, this talk about cheesecake is making me hungry!!!

Let's all hop in the car, ride over to "Simply Delicious" ( a local deli) and pig out on their cheesecake!! They have about a dozen different kinds. The Irish Creme is to die for! :yum:

Hi everyone!

Just thought I'd drop by and say hi!

Many years ago, I was a member of a Methodist church (or which has its roots in Methodism). They were happy years of my life. :) I was very blessed during those years. Happy memories! ^_^

I love the holiness teachings of Methodism. All the focus on 'holiness unto the Lord'. I think it's beautiful! And the hymns are awesome!

Take care everyone and God bless!
