  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yes I do. I have unbleached chinese prefolds with bummi super whisper wraps and Fuzzi Bunz ... I've also tried swaddlebees and happy heinys
huh? Are those different brands of cloth diapers you can buy? :sorry: Have they improved cloth diapers at all to make them more secure and stronger? I was talking to my MIL who used them with my DH and she said the worst part was that they didn't always hold in the mess as well as a dipsoable. But I am interested in finding out what kind of improvements have been made in the last 27 years. ;)

We use them. We use Mother-ease. We use the Sandy's as opposed to the one size ones. I am on my fifth baby with the same diapers. I think I am going to buy some new insertd for them though.

I love them- they NEVER leak. I never have to plunk down a big wad of cash for something I am just going to put in the trash (ie paper diapers). For breastmilk poop you don't even need to rinse them or anything- you can just chuck them in the pail. I have never minded cleaning the diapers- it's just so no big deal <shrugs>.

I have way more leaks when I need to use disposable (for travel). My cloth diapers never leak. Mine are nice thick terry with gathered legs and snaps. The diaper covers are breathable, and also have snaps at the waist and legs to customize the fit.

Why do you use cloth diapers? All I can think of is nasty, poopy diapers going in my washing machine. lol

And nice clean ones coming out.... thats the idea ;)

We use it mainly for saving money, I can reuse David's diapers on Maya, third child, etc. When I am done with them I can resell them used, Fuzzi bunz cost a lot to begin with but used they still sell for 10-12 dollars a piece online.  All good cloth ones have a resale value.

My sisters passed all her's onto me. they were used for her two kids and i have a feeling that some of them were used on my cousins who are not 22, 20 and 18 lol

they are the basic terry towel squares and all i've got to do is buy the liners and the covers.

If we can afford it i am going to buy some of the shaped ones as the are much better.

having said that i can't think on an occasion when my sisters leaked any worse than a disposable diaper.

LOL- I don't think mine are gonna have resale value when I am done with them :D

$250 for diapers for 5 babies is a pretty good deal, though! I think they'd make it through another baby, too...

Exactly. And when I was figuring up the price, we break even after one year even with 3 sizes of fuzzi bunz.... so you can't lose, even if you can't resell them. Any other children I use them on are just "bonus" -- that is free diapering

Until recently I have loved Fuzzi Bunz...and actually they are working great for Noelle (3 mos.)...but they've been leaking frequently on Natalie (2 yrs). :( I am surprised because she wore Fuzzi Bunz from 9 mo.+ with no problems, and it's just been in the past 4-5 months that we've had problems. I thought maybe it was because she needed to move from mediums to larges, so we tried that, and we're still having leak issues.

My advice would normally be to try a brand before you stock up on it, because just like with disposable, not every brand is going to fit your baby right. In my daughter's situation, I'm a little stumped though, because this brand used to fit her well.

lol Fair enough. :) I hope I didn't sound rude, I really didn't mean to. I don't know, for some reason having dirty diapers lying in a pan to be washed kinda grosses me out. It does sound like something to look into, though, cause we need to save money...like everyone else. :D Of course, I'm planning on making his baby food and breastfeeding exclusively, so that'll save us some money, too.

Have you tried the Petit Toddler size? They're just a bit larger than the medium. The larges have huge leg holes.

Disposal diapers lying in a bucket seems just as gross to me :)
