Why then, if he is a loving and merciful God, who loves ALL mankind, and why, if Jesus dies and rose again to conquer/pay for ALL sin does he only choose a few? This i suppose it just what really gets me. I trust him, i wont argue the point etc, im just befounded at WHYBut, in God i trust

middo said:so shelb5 your NOT a believer in predestination i take it? According to predestination not all are called?
losh said:God's purpose is His chosen people, His Church, a holy nation consisting of men and women who have the character of Christ.
God does not seek our human love. What He does value is the love of His Son. This kind of love natural men do not possess. This we can receive only when God finds us, touches us and gives us repentance, faith, and the ability to choose His will.
The problem with this theory is that it turns God from a loving Father who wants all to be saved, into a cruel tyrant who condemns many of his children to eternal torment for no reason.losh said:God's purpose is His chosen people, His Church, a holy nation consisting of men and women who have the character of Christ.

This is supposed to prove that God chose only is certain people to be saved? Seems to me Jesus is praying that all of his Christians be one, but I can not see where he is saying that he only died for a few people who will only be allowed to be Christians and not all of mankind.John 17
21that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.
Ephesians 1
Spiritual Blessings in Christ
3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. 4For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5he[1] predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will-- 6to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. 7In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace 8that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. 9And he[2] made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, 10to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment--to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ.
22And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.
Ephesians 4
11It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, 12to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
14Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. 15Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ.
Ephesians 5
22Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. 23For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
25Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26to make her holy, cleansing[2] her by the washing with water through the word, 27and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church-- 30for we are members of his body. 31"For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh."[3] 32This is a profound mystery--but I am talking about Christ and the church. 33However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
Colossians 2
19He has lost connection with the Head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow.
This is supposed to convince us that God does not send his son to save all of mankind but only a few?1 Corinthians 12
27Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.
But where does God say salvation is not for all people? The Living Stone and a Chosen People
4As you come to him, the living Stone--rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him-- 5you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
9But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
So where does it say that God will not save all me by sending his son to die for all but he will only save a few by limiting his sons death to just those?Psalm 53
3 Everyone has turned away,
they have together become corrupt;
there is no one who does good,
not even one.
