  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Matthew 24:6 (New International Version)
"You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come."

War is inevitable until Christ returns. To think one can eliminate war is to guarantee being taken over in one.

Why not give of your substance, directly? Privately?

Don't need some committee to legislate that kind of cause.
Jesus said those who give in secret are rewarded by the Father in Heaven who sees all. Jesus also said, those who do their giving before men, he is not pleased with.

Just the same... You will never eliminate poverty.

Matthew 26:11 (New International Version)
"The poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have me."

In America its called "The Constitution." You do not need a church for that. Yet, we need Christ in everyone's heart before it will happen without it having to be be legislated by law.

When you say fair and equal treatment? Does that mean a janitor is to make the same wage as the company CEO?

Sorry, never heard of you. And, don't need you. Those with a sense of decency will always do what is right. Those who are filled with the Holy Spirit will always be what is right.

Those who will be spewed are the ones who had forsaken their first love.

That word "first" speaks of priority, not order of sequence.

That first love was to be for the Word of God. In that case? You will be spewed. For you do not believe the Bible is even the Word of God. How can you not be spewed if you continue on the same path you have been following?

When someone says...

"I do not think its so."

Or... "I do not feel its so."

In God's eyes?

If its not according to his Word? Its called "self righteousness." Self appointed righteousness.

How did Jesus feel towards the self righteous?

In Christ, GeneZ

I believe in thinking for myself, in using the brains that God gave me and every person. I follow blindly no religious doctrine or creed. I choose for myself what I believe. You have that freedom also.

I have told you that I am a Christian. That's what I am.

OP, I don't mind you taking the moniker of Christian. It's not the first thing that you've lied to yourself about.

But as the Word of God says in 2 Corinthians 13:5
Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?

Examine yourself OP.

I don't worry about getting into heaven, because I believe that we are all saved. I do good works not to get into heaven, but because I believe in doing good works.

And like has been said before, the devil need not lift a finger with folks like you peddling that lie.

I examine myself all the time. That is part of thinking for myself: engaging in self-reflection and a rethinking of assumptions. I do that, because I believe in it.

I peddle no lies. I speak only the truth as I understand it.

That you disagree with me is fine, but please don't denigrate me for it. This is a diverse world, and many good people, including many good Christians, hold different beliefs from you and from each other. I think we all need to accept people whose beliefs differ from our own.

No. All born again Christians do not disagree on this. This issue is a divider. Anyone who divides is abominable.

It's not a matter of a mere variance on a tenet. This is a sin issue. A grievous betrayal of truth.

You haven't been denigrated. Your lies are simply being called what they are.

This is a diverse world, and many good people, including many good Christians, hold different beliefs from you and from each other. I think we all need to accept people whose beliefs differ from our own.

What does that have to do with you not being a Christian? We are well aware of the world's diversity.

I asked you a long time ago what sort of witness do you think you have for Christ continuing to tell this lie about everybody being saved?

You continue to be one of the biggest false teachers in this forum.

Christ has not called His people to sit by and watch people go to hell. You do the work of the devil by spreading that lie that all are saved.

If even one stumbles over your vainful lie, their blood shall be on your hands.

I have called for disowning no one.

nah, you just ignore them

You are free to reject the testimony of the former leaders of the "ex-gay" ministry Exodus,

1) I never mentioned ex-gay therapy as an alternative, so you are debating your own straw-man you created, after finding you don't have a real point.

2) What's wrong with seeing a licensed degreed therapist I might ask instead of some snake doctor ?

3) What's wrong with accepting celibacy as an alternative to gay-sex ? For all we know, Paul's thorn in the flesh could have been same-sex attraction, because it was never specified. God does not always remove a thorn you know, but He promises that His grace is sufficient. Of course that assumes you have faith to start with. a very big assumption * wink * wink*

but their testimony is indeed powerful, and it stands as a refutation of claims by some Christians that people can stop being gay by embracing Jesus.

Only one ex-gay Believer that can not have a spiritual life because of same sex, and your whole argument is totally washed up and finito.

Did not Jesus say He would leave 100 sheep to save one little lamb that was lost. That is LOVE you see, and I just don't see this coming from you.

Jesus never tried to make anyone "ex-gay." It's people with an anti-gay agenda who try to do that.

Jesus never lied. So tell us how He can support two contradictory testimonies about gay-sex. This absolutely can not be, and you debate in favor of carnality.

I've already provided witness that same-sex sex causes spiritual damage in the lives of some believers. You just can't accept this, and Love gives the benefit of the doubt.

You have no interest in helping our struggling brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ unless you can recruit them to your gay agenda.

Hmmm, now there's a new concept. The practice of "sexual misfunction" in the mind.

I think we have the responsibility to use our minds as best we can, since our brains are a gift from God. Clear, critical, independent thinking is one of our human abilities that we need to celebrate, not shut down.

Demanding conformity of thought is trying to shut down people's minds. Critical thinking is a way to know God, to get closer to God.

No it isn't. We are to fill our minds with Him, allowing the Holy Spirit (do you deny Him as well?) to have control.

If your mind is not regenerated by giving control over to God, then you will remain a carnal Christian. A goat.

I am not a goat. I am simply a human being.

It is true that I don't evangelize. I do not believe in evangelizing, at least not when it comes to trying to spread my religious beliefs. They are my beliefs alone, and other people have the freedom and the responsibility to develop their own beliefs. That is what freedom of thought is all about: thinking for oneself.

That is why I love my Unitarian Universalist faith so much. Our faith encourages each person on his or her own search for truth and meaning, on his or her own spiritual journey. Our is a non-creedal faith, a faith that dictates no doctrine to our members. It's each person's responsibility and challenge to think for him or herself.

If I can be said to evangelize at all, my message is, "Think for yourself."

Aha! Another addition to the long list of distinct oppositions to Jesus Christ and His message! Self-styled religion is crap to God.

Keep 'em coming!

And yet again you completely miss what you're supposed to examine yourself against.

I peddle no lies. I speak only the truth as I understand it.

Complete foolishness. What you understand wouldn't cover the tip of a safety pin. Yet you continue to speak lies as though they are truth, all the time impressing your version of the truth over the very Word of God.

Shamelessly blasphemous.

And a real phoney as far as I can tell. Do you want to see some phoney quotes?
What is false about my saying what I believe? Why does it bother you that I disagree with you? You don't have to agree with me, but you really should not denigrate me for not believing what you believe. There is room for people to hold different views in this world, and there is room for Christians to hold different views in this world.

I certainly am not ashamed of what I think or how I think. Your opinion that my beliefs are "blasphemous" is just your opinion.

But this blessing is a curse to ex-gays. How can the same God bless and curse with the same spirit? This can not be.

The ex-gays have forsaken ANY kind of a same-sex-sex relationship so they can live spiritually with God.

If same-sex-sex is harming them, I'm sorry, but I must give them the benefit of the doubt, rather than yourself.

They are obviously very devoted, their sacrifice is highly visible, and they go against all the odds. They serve the kind of God I believe in. That's OUR JESUS and these are my brothers and sisters in Christ. :amen:

Was Paul's choice of celibacy harmed by the institution of marriage? Or was the fact that it was his choive, in order to benefit his preaching of the Gospel a separate blessing? I would suggest that you re-read 1 corinthians 7 again.

If someone gay or straight chooses to live a celibate life for the sake of the gospel, they are not harmed by those who choose the path of marriage and family.

On the other hand, if someone "sacrifices" his happiness because he mistakenly believes that it would be sinful to seek a spouse of the same sex, then the situation is like the ones Paul discusses concerning Sabbath laws and kosher meat. Because as long as a person believes an action to be sinful, it would be a sin to commit that action despite the concerns, even if objectively it is not sinful.

The rest of the body of christ is called on not to "flaunt" their freedom in front of the weak brother. In the case of meat, one should not eat non-kosher in front of them.

But leaving them in their weak and confused state is not right either. Every time he brought the subject up, Paul emphasized our freedom in Christ before he admonished becoming a stumbling-block to the weaker brother, even knowing that thw "weaker brothers" would be reading the letter as well. And he admonished Peter for going too far in his attempt not to offend the Jewish-born christians in Antioch

No. It's what I believe. There is no Satan.

Excuse me while I go make another notch in my board! You are certainly holding a varied menu of beliefs there, Ohioprof!

Any of them coincide with God's Truth at all?
