Brotherjim, may I request what denomination you frequent? Your profile does not have much to say about you, and for some reason your posts do not mention an icon either.
Sure: of course you may ask. That question comes up from time to time, especially when those who oppose the Truth I post, cannot prove me wrong by the written Word (nothing personal implied by me).

I am in full time Christian ministry with my church, it technically being INTERdenominational, but also might be considered nondenom. since it is one of a kind.

We are Anabaptists, and our theology also incorporates much of that of the Evangelical, charismatic, fundamentalist, Pent. holiness, and "Wesleyan" factions.

God bless, jim

Whoever,

I thought perhaps some might be edified by the following, which I'm copying and pasting from another forum whereupon I posted it. It is somewhat a summary/overview of the whole issue here:

3:4 "Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law".(1 John)

True, of course . . .

But: where there is no Law, there is no sin.

And: Love is the fulfilling of the Law.

The Christian is not under OT Law, of course, but under NT Law. And, yes, while NT Law incorporates the OT Commandments (but not "ordinances" [Eph. 2:14-15a; Col. 2:13-14]); it also adds the Graces wrought by Jesus' Blood.

So: since if just one Law is broken, just one time, the person is guilty of all, and such is too great a burden . . .

Then: God took us out from having to obey the OT Law by putting us under the NT Law, and NT Law states:

"Love will cover the multitude of sins."

But what "Love," exactly?

The Word does not say, not in that verse, that is. So we have to look elsewhere. We have to combine ALL Scripture, the whole counsel of God's Word, and determine a doctrine that cannot be opposed by so much as one Scriptural verse or even part thereof.

The NT Law of Love states that if we are walking in God's supernatural Love, if we are walking by/in the Spirit, God will eventually conform all facets of our being to obey all the Commandments, if we live long enough and if we do not at some point harden our heart to the process (which practically all have done, sad to say).

Meanwhile, if and when we who remain in the process do sin, we are not condemned, for their is no condemnation for those who walk by the Spirit, and additionally, our walking in Love, because of the NT Law of Love, covers those sins.

On the other hand, whereas some believe themselves to be walking in Love and by/in the Spirit, if they observe their life is one not being lived in conformity to the Commandments, they have every right, and have the obligation, to question their walk (1 John 2:3-5, 4:16-18).

It all, in a practical application, boils down thusly:

Since our hearts deceive us, since we are incapable of judging our own selves by ourself: those who are born-again need to set themselves apart in a prayer closet for a period of time on a regular basis, i.e., make themselves fully available to God (as compared to apathy and/or hiding from God); seeking Him with all that is in them, as to what evil remaining in them next needs to be divinely exposed to their consciousness, confronted and dealt with, and then it replaced with yet one more Virtue of Christ.

"I MUST decrease; He [Jesus] MUST increase

The Christian life can be summed up as one whereby God commands all men everywhere to repent, to stop living selfishly onto themselves (since no man is an island); to instead Love God with all facets of being under their conrol; and Love all people, even all enemies, even to the same degree Jesus Loved and died for us; which requires someone receiving one Grace after another, experiencing one mountaintop encounter after another, until God's Love is perfected in them or until they die.

God/Grace does the rest---or should.

So then we who will, will not one day inherit eternal Life because we obeyed this commandment or that commandment, but because we allowed ourselves to be conformed, and only by God's Graces and Spirit, to His Love, for which there is no Law, for which then there is no sin possible to be committed, for which if no sin is then committed and separating us from God, we are eternally reconciled to God, and will live forever with Him.

once saved we are in the hands of the Father and nothing or no one can pluck us out, right? ok by that then saying you can lose salvation is saying that there is something out there stronger than God. i dont think you are saved by just saying Jesus save me please, i think you have to believe it and mean it when you ask for redemption.

You are saved by God through His Son Jesus Christ.
If you accept Him as Savior & Lord.
Repent of your sins and receive His forgiveness.
Following Him through baptism and joining a church.
