  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I pretty much like tea in ANY form. :) But I've cut back on the black tea. Water and milk are my every-day drinks of choice. I don't drink soda, or coffee. My problem is that I don't drink much when I do drink. One 8oz glass can pretty much get me through a whole day. I just don't get thirsty, and drinking when you aren't thirsty is a concept I've always had trouble with. But I've had almost two liters today, and although I slosh when I walk and am too full of water to eat, I can only hope that I will get used to it. :)

Please tell me you don't drink sweet tea?

KC, in the South, anything but sweet iced tea is a Yankee heresy. :D

I was a teenager before I knew sweet tea was the odd form of the brew. I made the mistake of ordering sweet tea in Providence, and they looked at me like I was a fool. "What... tea? How do you make that?" Oh well, anything north of the Mason-Dixon is foreign soil, anyway. :D

What I hate is that monstrosity known as "fountain tea." For you uninformed, that's tea available through the fountain that dispenses soda pop in restaurants. It's made with (BLEAH!) instant tea, and it's awful. I know now to ask when ordering tea, "Is it fountain tea?"

If I'm told yes, it is, I order HOT TEA and two glasses of ice.

Peace,

Also, on that iced tea thing... Down here in the south, iced tea is KING. We drink it all the time, and it's served at all the non-fastfood restaurants, year-round.

Every McDonald's in town has fresh brewed tea, sweetened and non-sweet. I wish all the rest would catch on. :) I just realized something. Why do we call it un-sweetened tea? It's not like we took the sugar out???

Glad to hear you are feeling better, Sandy. I pray that you have good health from here on out.

God Bless,

Neal

Thanks Neal. :)

Instant tea is one of Satan's most insidious plots. That is nasty stuff. Iced anyway. A local Wendy's switched from brewed to instant a while back, but so many people complained they switched back. :D I do use instant tea when I make a dry batch of Russian Tea. It's great during the holidays, and the Tang and spices cover up that funny taste of instant tea.

Woo HOO!! I also give Russian Tea for gifts! I have people almost standing in line on my porch for it!

There's also a NON-TEA version, that you can fix cold and add ice, or even add the dry mix to hot, brewed tea.

The stuff smells so good, it would make a great sachet to hang in closets.

Peace,

I found these absolutely adorable little tin cannisters at the dollar store a few Christmases ago that were just perfect for tea gifts. I wish I could find them again. We always bake or make our Christmas gifts to family members and special friends. Last Christmas we made 'Brownies in a Jar'. The kids love doing stuff like that. I've been trying to think of something for this year. What do you all think of homemade salsa and chips? I've got a good salsa recipe and it looks kinda Christmasy, dontcha think?

Feliz Navidad! lol

Well, I personally love salsa, but for Christmas? That sounds kind of unusual, even for a Mexican food nut like myself, lol. :D

Joe :p ;)

Amy, I love it too, and I can tint the chips red and green. I saw some glass jars at the store that have a pepper embossed on the glass that would be perfect for the salsa. We're still thinking about it though. Most people do prefer something sweet as a gift. *shrug* :)

In my area, Ohio, everyone just calls "sweet tea",,,,,just plain old Iced Tea. I like it in the summer, but some I know dring it all year long.

How about any of those flavored teas or the green teas? I love the flavored teas, especially on a cold rainy day or evening. And , some can actually relax you and let you sleep.

Thank you, Lady Grace. :) I am doing much better. Which is a good thing, 'cause I don't think I could have done much worse. :holy: ;)

Tea. It's all good. :yum: Avila is our local tea guru. If you stop into the pub I'll fix you a cup of whatever you like. I had some tangerine spice tea today that was wonderful. :)

Ah yes!!! I'm very much into teas, although I cannot drink any caffeine this pregnancy. It makes me very shaky, jumpy, and wierd-feeling. I hope the feeling subsides because there is nothing quite so pleasing as a cup of Irish Breakfast Tea with cream and sugar in it & some scones. :) Herbals are nice too! Especially now that I'm limited in my tea selection - since I don't have any good decaf versions of my regular teas.
