It was the family man's lack of consideration for his wife's feelings which allegedly hurt her and the family. Not every man (or woman) who enters a strip joint is married.

The bigger issue would be why would a married man want to go to a strip club in the first place? Seems like his marriage has bigger issues. Especially if a trip to a strip club ruined it.

While the majority of you seem to be pretty moderate in your views and feelings regarding most things, some of you have some extreme views which beg the question, who gave you the right to dictate to others what is right and wrong?

I'm going to drop the bomb and just say what those of you with radical ideas would like to say, but never quite say it.

I remember once someone here had a threat about strippers and a 13 year old girl said that all strippers were yucky. 20 odd people came on and told her she shouldn't discriminate against a person for doing a job that she personally just doesn't want to do. That it's their choice to do what they like and that she isn't hurting anybody by it. Then a middle aged women came on and told the girl "DON'T LISTEN TO THOSE WORDY LIBERALS, YOU ARE RIGHT TO THINK AS YOU DO. THEY SHOULD BE PERSICUTED FOR THEIR LIFE OF SIN." Now is it just me or is this the out look many of our goverment officials have too? If they're not fond of a certain life style they make their life difficult if not impossible. They are the ones with power and I see them abusing it.

Then there was a thread about about what would happen if Hindu was tought in schools. Some of you referred to hindu as trash and said some other bad things about it which I won't repeat. This further convinces me that some of you think that all other religious are a path to satanism.

Then there was the pro and anti american goverment threads. Some people dismissed all America's faults as liberal propaganda, the same people who thought Africa was a country and that Germany hand conquared the UK in the second world war. It does worry me that people who are clearly so ignorent should be allowed to serve in the American military. The said people then went on to brag how our Military was better because it was full of christians and had the right to invade other countries.

I didn't know we were still on holly Crusades? So I guess when Bush said WMD's he meant the Holly Grail, and his reliable sources was actually Indian Jones... Get my drift?

When the debate over whether some of America's goverments contuct seem's right or not, certain people decided to make such constructive comments as stating that debates on or offline regarding said topics will mean nothing. Our opinions mean nothing, only those who follow Christ will be right. Is it just me or does such a view point seem just a little closed? I find it quite scary as it is people who never question anything and just follow their religioun who have been known to on shooting spree's, suicide bombings and etc, all in the name of their God, or in some cases, their dictator (AKA STALIN AND HITLER).

I don't believe one should never question certain things, I think everything should be open to questioning.

And what's with the attitude towards homosexuals? Some people here have out right said they think that homosexuals should not have the right to work, serve in the army, live in the same houses, buildings, streets, towns or planet as the rest of us. And Heavens for bid they have a Civil union because we all know that only a Christian wedding is the aproved type of marrage.

If that's the case then let us evict all none christians, I mean the Jews, the muslims, the Aitheist, everyone who doesn't hug a bible at night while they sleep. And while we're at it, which sector of christianity is right? If I'm a Catholic I'm going to hell for not being a protostant and if I'm a protostant I'm damned for not being a Catholic, so lets all leave America cause we're all bad people and nobody can agree with anybody's life styles here.

We're all so intolerent, it's a wonder we haven't nuked ourselves yet.

Now look at Holland, or Sweden. Lots of people from all parts of the world there, different religiouns, sexual preferences, skin colors but generally, they all get along. The main point is, the law doesn't discriminate against anyone there.

For the land of the free, we sure aren't doing a very good job at it.

Now tell us how you really feel ;)

So I guess the only answer then is to close down all strip clubs and castraight all men. It's the only way to be sure isn't it.

Or, perhaps one should be asking why is a married man going there in the first place? If I cheated on my wife, I'd be more to blame then any women who I did it with, even if she begged me. Why? Because I made the choice.

The world is full of temptation, those who can't handle it are weak.

I wouldnt say this attitude is exactly remiscient of "blaming the victim", but its pretty darnded close. You havent found a reason to fault the stripper for anything - by the same "without one or the other" criteria, you might as well fault a wife for her husbands infidelity because she chose to marry the guy in the first place (it doesnt make much sense does it?).

Oh yes it would have. The man did something that his wife obviously felt very strongly he should not do; he betrayed her trust. Had there been no strippers for him to ogle, he would have found some other way to betray her.

If he'd betrayed her by drinking a beer after vowing to stop, you wouldn't say that the beer companies played an equal part in his betrayal. It's his responsibility, not theirs.

On top of all that, we're living in a country that cencors the media so to give biased reports on what's going on in the world.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - When U.S. officials asked the media not to take pictures of those killed by Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath, they were censoring a key part of the disaster story, free speech watchdogs said on Wednesday.

The Bible tells us Christians that Homosexuality is a sin.Dose that mean that they should not have the right to work or serve in the army? No it does in't.But they should never become a pastor,a pastor should always follow the bible and be an example to everyone. Not live a sinful life style and say that everyone else should break away from sin.Does that mean christians hate gay people ,no again the bible tells us to love are Enemys.A person who clames to be a christian and hates gay people is going against the Bibles teachings. But Christians are against Homosexuality.God Bless :amen:

Matthew 5:44"But i tell you: Love your enemys and pray for those who persecute you."

You are free to go there yourself in person and take your own pictures, I have seen my fill of dead bodies and don't have a morbid desire to see more simply so that I can 'see' a sad loss of life in mass quantity. I'm sure if you try hard enough, someone on the Internet will hook you up with plenty of pictures for free.
I'm not going to or need to apologize for our society having common courtesy for the victims and their families coupled with the government making a token boundary of good taste.

Likewise, the saying made often by non-believers of, "there is no absolute truth" is also a self-defeated statement. If it were true, then the statement falls under the same rule and it wouldn't be true. If the statement is false, then it is false.

nobody. but the extremity of trying to intelectually understanding life, death, and eternity leads some to to misguidedly believe that they have to have all the answers

part of some christians belief system is that jesus is the only way to god. what they do with that information is questionable.

again it is a concequence of some christians intellectual approach to their faith that leads them to misguidedly confuse the way that they feel about their faith, and their, and others, understanding of the world. they feel that it is necessary to doggedly hang on to an understanding of life that they think is necessary to their salvation.

whyohwhy said:

so do i. i think that a lot of christians live in fear because they are unable to see the difference between intellectual faith and active, living faith. not only that but they seem, unfortunately, to be ignorant of the fact that god wished to commune with his people here and now.

that is a vivid symptom of placing a set of belief statements above compassion for people.

there is a very real human need to use christianity to make a better life for ourselves, some christians want a "christian society". somehow they havent learned, even though they have access to hundreds of years of history, that not only is this simply not possible, but it was never jesus intention.

i find it fascinating that the values that drive modern capitalism can effect a remarkably free and loving society, that a lot of christians could learn a lot from. the need for independance can have an interesting impact on life. it doesnt, though, stop the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer.

whyohwhy said:

a free society comes with a certain amount of risk, a lot of people who live in comfort are unwilling to gamble their comfort away, some of them are christians.

christians are people too, and they have a lot of faults, like everyone else. but that doesnt mean that there isnt a very real and very loving god!

That right is more or less guaranteed by our (US) constitution... as is your right to disagree with others. And frankly, I'd hate to live in a world where people aren't generally free to state and/or hold views some might interperet as a bit extreme. Are you saying that you'd prefer to see this right taken away?

It's funny what people read into what I'm saying. I said I don't think people should discriminate and now you're talking about me wanting rights talken away.

Say what you want to people, I don't care, but if you start passing laws against them, arresting them, assulting them, abusing them, firing them, or simply paying them less, because you don't agree with their personal choices, there is a problem.

I agree that certain things don't need to be flashed around all over the place.

What I meant is, for instance, pictures of coffins comming back from Iraq with the American flag over it. Such things would show people the real cost of the war. The yet we're not allowed to show that.

Married men may go to a strip club because their friend who is getting married is having his bachelor party there.... just because the married man goes doesn't mean he is trying to start a relationship with a stripper.... not just one visit.... multiple visits, spending the paycheck at a strip club, that may be a different issue altogether.....

As for people imposing their beliefs on others.... seems to be a human condition. If we are abiding by a certain set of rules we want everyone to abide by them..... we don't seem to be satisfied that we are doing it, we want company...

And yet, there was an objection to showing simple scenes from 9/11 during the last Presidential election, because the family members said it was disrespectful to the victims and the usage would be exploiting their loss. But somehow, news agencies that wish to use the most shocking scenes and devastation are based in rating and commercial financing isn't exploitation. Or the claim that displaying detainees in an Arab prison is cruel and humiliating to the detained and their families, yet the media which profits from viewer ratings needs to use the most shocking pictures to broadcast and compound that humiliation for 'informational purposes'.

No double standard there. <-sarcasm
I'll go for the balance and discernment relating to those instances, not the extremist all is acceptable or we have a right to do whatever. :sigh:
