I just spent the bulk of the afternoon in the garden, as a matter of fact! I now have list of plants I 'need' to go get! LOL

I largely have a perennial garden. I will sometimes edge with annuals (impatiens and alyssum) if I feel energetic enough. I do have pots of annuals around the yard and porch and such.

As for veggies, we primarily grow roma tomatoes and basil (for making lots of bruschetta!) I've also grown peppers, cucumbers and celery....again if the mood strikes!

What about you, faithmom?

Yeah, my fingernails are already getting dirt stained. In a few flowering areas, I have a variety of bulbs, carnations, daisies, columbines, and lilly's of the valley. In the vegi garden I grow corn, peas, sunflowers, beans, lettuce, spinache, onions/garlic/shallots, a variety of squashes, beets, carrots, parsnips, rutabegas and asperagus. I also have rhubarb and stawberries growing in there. I line that garden with merrygolds, zinia and glads to dress up the chain link fense we use to keep the deer out of it.

Like you I do some container flowers if I get ambitious, but we are traveling through most of July, so I am debating if that is a good idea this year. It might be fun to plant them when we get back, and enjoy them deeper into the fall (taking them in and out of course).

Happy springtime! I'll check in again later to see how it's all growing.

Both answers involve my parents...

If the phone rang I'd want it to be my dad...he had a stroke one year ago and died on May 9. I'd love the chance to hear his voice again.

And the last time I laughed till it hurt?? My mom. My mom is crazy. She's our entertainment, and she knows it! LOL. When I told her I share her antics on here she said, 'Every family has its crazy person and I'm ours!!'

Sigh. I love them...thanks for letting me think of them this way!

My daughter gave me the question to ask (they used it at her church) and I immediately thought of people I know. My relatives who have passed didn't occur to me - but you're right, I miss talking to my mom and my granddad (been far too long since I've heard those voices).

My dad was never a phone person and we had been estranged for about 10 years.

During the last year of his life after he stopped drinking and we'd been talking for 8 years he'd taken to calling every couple of months! It was always such a surprise. I'd love to hear his voice again.

First response was, 'oh wow...'

But after thinking about it I guess my mom. My dad was never much of a relationship person and Mom is. I have Dad's intelligence, a bit of his stubborness, his love for music, his mechanical abilities and inquisitive mind. But I think I'd be lost without the sense of humor, close family ties and mothering nature I believe I've gotten from my mom!

Good thing I didn't see this and try to answer before my brain was awake!
