Also known as socialism.

No, it is one particular strain of socialism that is inspired by the writings of Karl Marx. There were socialists before Marx and there are several other socialist political philosophers. Again I ask, have you ever even heard of John Stuart Mill.

Words have meanings, and those meanings are not just what happens to be convenient to your narrative.

No. Substance. Again: Words have meanings, and you can't just slap a word on whatever you want and pretend that's what it means.

Actually this goes beyond mere words because we're discussing schools of political thought. That's why it is important to use accurate appellations when discussing the different types of socialism. You cannot demand that Marxist socialism, as envisioned by his economic interpretation of history, is the only type of socialism and then try and lecture us about how words have meanings when you're ignoring the fact that words can have different meanings.

Again: Words' meanings do not change according to what your preference is.
"Socialism" isn't all about just being nice and generous (socialists rarely are, in fact), and cute fluffy bunnies. Socialism is the stage in a society's development where said society still needs the guidance of the Dictatorship of the Proletariat, under the Party's leadership.

Marxist socialism, IS socialism.
What Americans call "democratic socialism" in Europe is not socialism, but various forms of social democracy. And any ideologically conscious social democrat would be quite annoyed if you called him/her/chopperself a "socialist"

"Democratic socialism" is as much of an oxymoron as "democratic fascism" is, because the terms are self-contradictory.
You can have democracy, or you can have socialism. You cannot have both.

I’ve learned the hard way - in a discussion on racism - that many people here are oblivious to the fact that words have multiple meanings and that multiple schools of thought exist, particularly in the social and political sciences.
