Well, looks like AOC is right yet again...
Ocasio-Cortez Slams GOP for Lying About Effects of Unemployment Insurance (truthout.org)

From the article:
Her criticism was in response to a statement by Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tennessee), who tweeted, “4.3 million workers quit their jobs. We need to quit paying folks not to work.” His tweet refers to recent data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics showing that a record number of people quit their jobs in August. But most people who quit their jobs aren’t eligible to collect unemployment benefits — and the unemployment insurance program that Burchett is likely referring to has already ended.

“Y’all already [ended unemployment insurance] over a month ago despite everyone having data that ending [unemployment insurance] doesn’t push people back to work,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted in response. “Conservatives love to act like they’re ‘fiscally savvy’ yet remain puzzled as to why people can’t work a job whose pay won’t even cover the childcare costs to work.”

Plenty of other reports are bearing out the truth of what AOC said here and what most of us have been saying all along:

Lol. There are help wanted signs everywhere. Nice spin from the left, though.
Exactly! Good for you for agreeing with AOC.

Well, looks like AOC is right yet again...

It's more like AOC is at it again.

She has come forth with such a string of nonsensical accusations over the past several years that, like the story of the little boy who cried "wolf," the only people who care any longer are the folks who like her pontifications quite apart from whether or not they are true or relevant.

Do you have anything that is not from a far left source with questionable integrity?

The truth is - AOC has not been right on employment since:

PolitiFact - Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wrong on several counts about unemployment

and has never admitted she was wrong nor has she retracted or corrected her pants on fire statement

When it comes to being right she is indeed at it again.

She never has "come forth with such a string of nonsensical accusations"... Irony is that your accusation of her doing so is itself a nonsensical accusation, though.

Not at all.
You, like AOC, pointed out that help wanted signs are still all over the place despite unemployment benefits having already ended months ago. If you want to backpedal now that's fine but your point about help wanted signs still up everywhere only bolsters AOC's argument.

So, yeah, "at all" - you did agree with her. You should embrace your newfound agreement with AOC! Own it, love it! We all see it, no need to try to hide it - celebrate it!

I’m not puzzled at all. We have a society where sizable percentage has forgotten that scripture says that if a man doesn’t work, he shall not eat. When we get away from biblical principles, we end up with what we have.

So the reason you don't work at Burger King is because you are assuming that help will come from somewhere else?
I don’t work at Burger King because I have a job that pays way more.

But you said the only reason a person wouldn't work is because they expect help to come from somewhere else.

Now you're claiming that you don't work because you work somewhere else. Which is it?

Because companies need employees.
So what's stopping them from getting employees? Nothing other than their inability to compete for employees. And often that is based on a poor business model which can't be profitable for anyone. Those businesses deserve to go out of business, don't you agree?

But this thread is specifically about the fact that AOC correctly called out the GOP's incorrect claim of the reason for businesses being unable to hire people being unemployment benefits. That is not true and she correctly called it out. There are no more benefits for months now. You know why businesses can't get employees? They have....wait for it....OTHER JOBS!!!

Is the unemployment rate at an all-time low?

What does the unemployment rate have to do with it? Many people who work are technically "unemployed" - stay-at-home moms, people who live off the land. If they are counted as "unemployed" does that mean they do not work for their living?

Unemployment rate is not relevant.

You said “You know why businesses can't get employees? They have....wait for it....OTHER JOBS!!!”. If people have other jobs, then the whole unemployment insurance issue is moot. If unemployment is low, then that’s great and companies are fighting for the same employees. If it’s high, then companies are trying to entice folks to get off their butts and go to work.

How do you figure "unemployment benefits ended months ago"..? All that's happening is that they have ended offering new claims for COVID related job losses, and reset the normal payouts.

...Everyone's already on unemployment!
