Well then you don't need health care.

interesting response.

Yes, given the right circumstances and attitude. When it's less about money and more about people, then we are on the right road.

This administration is taking us down the road of it being more about money and less about people which is going to kill a lot of people.
Well if we could only get doctors, nurses, therapists, ward staff, ambulance officers, cleaners and caterers to work for free, and get pharmaceutical and medical supply companies, not to mention linen suppliers, food wholesalers, and a bunch of others I'm sure I'm forgeting to supply their products for free, we might just be onto something here Jen!

Man, this thread just got epic, and you started without me.

To answer a certain poster's PM (you know who you are): No, I don't have a sock. Participating once in some of these discussion is enough for me, thank you very much - and I'm quite capable of making my point without resorting to bringing in my own second opinion.

Funny how all PGP had to do is mention one goverment feedback site and the site erupted with cries of witch-hunt, etc - when now the people in this thread are conducting their own witch-hunt now for people who aren't American, and who are socks.

I'm off to do some photography, but I'll be back...

Yea right. While I'm not training to be a nurse in order to make huge amounts of money, I do expect to be able to do basic things such as "pay my rent, and bills"

Seeing that you have become notorious for needing things reposted, summarized, transcripted, and explained to you, here are a couple of links AGAIN that demonstrate how wonderful health care in Britain is for the elderly:

http://www.capmag.com/article.asp?ID=4157

"
Healthcare To Die For in Britain?

by Ralph R. Reiland (February 26, 2005)"

You might want to read the ACTUAL article, rather than this smug sanitised summary. It criticises BOTH healthcare systems in pretty strong terms.

http://www.spectator.co.uk/archive/features/13221/die-in-britain-survive-in-the-us.thtml

Also, it WAS written in 2005.

http://www.seniorsworldchronicle.com...ng-old-in.html

"UK: Beware the Perils of Getting Old in Britain"

Strawmen, exaggeration and generalisation from start to finish.

You think an opinion piece proves something?

NHS in Britain discriminates against the elderly

"NHS in Britain Discriminates Against the Elderly"

Hmm....92 doctors and 72 patients. Wow. Would love to see the data statistics on THAT study.

American Health Care Reformers Can Learn from Canada, Britain - Roll Call

"American Health Care Reformers Can Learn from Canada, Britain"

Data is even older again, getting on for nearly a decade ago, but even so, when you look at the ACTUAL article instead of reading what a Republican politician is telling you, the paper says in the "Findings" section.

"For all cancers, age-adjusted 5-year period survival improved for patients diagnosed in 2000—02"

http://www.thelancet.com/journals/lanonc/article/PIIS1470-2045(07)70246-2/abstract

So much for killing people off, eh?

Maybe look at the actual sources before posting stuff like this, rather than just plumping for what right-wingers are telling you about these sources and quote mining their quote mines?

Also, if you're going to poke at the British NHS, you might want to be aware of the fact that the media have been saying the NHS is crap since well before the current left-wing socialist government was in power. It was like that during the right-wing government days before that also.

And this aside, a few instances of doctor malpractice towards the elderly does NOT imply that Britain is further along than the US with your little "culture of death" theory.

...which is why I seldom visit the doctor...

But this isn't about me. It's about promoting a culture of death by providing for abortions and rationing healthcare to the elderly so that they die sooner, and providing for illegal aliens, all on the backs of the American people.
If socialized medicine is about killing off old people and aborting babies, then why does the US have the lowest life expectancy and the highest abortion rate in the free world?

We're #30 in life expectancy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_life_expectancy
Nearly 2X as many abortions per 1000 women as Europe http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/health/daily/051606/teensex.html
