I agree. But no politician, now or in the past, is or was a Saint.

Regardless of what would be right in a perfect world, NO politician would vote against giving all Americans a tax rebate of several hundred dollars, as he or she would realize that doing so would instantly turn him or her into political dead meat for all time.
Which burns me up to no end.

Idealism is a wonderful thing. I support it as much as I possible can. But there are some political realities that we cannot escape and we must reconciled ourselves to them.
I'm not sure what this means in the context of your post and mine re:financial responsibility.

Do NOT go house to house in your neighborhood and tell everyone you believe the tax rebate is irresponsible and that you are giving yours back, because you are an idealist, and that you think they should sign a pledge to give theirs back too.

Do NOT do that. Chances are someone might get violent. We certainly don't want that.
Are you being serious?

Yes. I don't joke about violence.
And you don't joke about being dramatic either. Is it reasonable of you to assume that I would go door to door to my neighbors, who (oddly) largely consist of old women? No. And even if I did, it makes no sense that anyone would come to the conclusion that a handful of people rejecting the rebate would make a dent against 140 billion.

Finding this stimulus package to be irresponsible is not idealistic either. On the flip side, I find it idealistic to think it's going to help our economy.

PHOTO OF ODINGA SHOWING OFF HIS COUSIN, OBAMA IN HIS MUSLIM GARB.
Odinga had a pact with hard-line Muslims that if he won the presidency he would force Islam on the country. He failed to win the presidency and instigated bloody riots that cost the lives of over 1000 people.
Obma made a trip to Kenya TO CAMPAIGN FOR ODINGA- AND EVEN INTERRUPTED HIS OWN CAMPAIGN TO CALL HIM.
If you do not believe this, google "Obama is my cousin" or Obama/Odinga.

I know that Obama is a very good speaker, and was against the war in Iraq right from the start which is note worthy. However he has only been a US senator for one year, now he is going to be president? Is that a sound equation?

So, how many years as senator does one need to qualify?

Two, Five, Ten, Twenty?

What equation did you have in mind?

I believe to answer that question I would hav e to know how long was John F Kennedy a senator before he was president and how long was John Kerry a senator before he ran for president. However I tend to think you need ten years abut five or ten years before people get a sense of what the senator will do as president, and really how is he on foreign policies. I kind of think either Hilliary or McCain will be a better president than Obama. I also think the tax cuts help the economy, so maybe McCain is a more sound choice?

There are pros and cons to all these candidates, and I would like to see something done about health care, but to try to insure all three hundred million americans, at the prices the doctors and drug companies are charging, I don't know if the government can do that? I mean a big government solution, is that really going to work?

At first I was pretty harsh on Romney about implementing mandatory healthcare in MA since his projected costs did not align with what it's actually costing us. Duval has approached the the fed gov. for help. But I also heard recently that use of ER's as primary care is way down so it's possible those savings will offset the costs. That doesn't mean the system we have will work, which is Hillary's original plan back in the 90's. One of the major differences to her and Obama's current proposals compared to what we have now in MA, as far as I can tell, is choice, tax credits, and premiums based on income.

About 8 or 9 years. Obama's combined time between the Illinois state senate and U.S. senate will be over 11 years by the time he is elected president.

Look at Lincoln's experience.

Rats - you beat me to it. I think he only had about 2 years as a congressman, right? Or did he even have that much experience?

The problem with experience is that if it is the WRONG kind of experience then the country has to suffer the consequences.

There are going to be a lot of charges and counter-charges between McCain - and the Republican slime machine - and Obama and the forces of Good before this is all over.

A lot of REALLY bad things are going to be said about Obama. I have yet to be impressed by the 'scandals' about Obama that have so far been circulated by the Republican slime machine - or the Two-headed Clinton slime machine, for that matter.

So - here are two sources of alleged fact that McCain has types of problems Obama never dreamed of committing himself in his darkest, most scary nightmares:

http://mccainiseman.wordpress.com/2008/02/25/mccains-history-of-abusing-the-public-trust/

And:

Before we can move forward to determine Sen. Obama's fitness to be POTUS, I want someone to assure me that all of these alleged facts about Sen. McCain are untrue, i.e., made up out of whole cloth. These charges, unlike those made against John Kerry in 2004, are alleged to be from eye witnesses to the events.

Someone needs to investigate these serious felonies that McCain is being charged with. I am appalled that any of them might be true.

Are they true?

Yes, and that was 15 years before he ran for the presidency. He lost his senate run right before his presidential run.
