A Muslim and his opinion regarding extra-terrestrials is neither a physical nor a life science. It therefore does not belong in this forum.
On the contrary, it is very much a life science: where else do you expect to find queries on the existence of extra-terrestrial life, but a forum on the science of life?

Wrong this is exactly where a Muslims views on ET life belongs. Personaly Islamic creationism belongs with christian creationism: In the bin.

ANYWAY

I really think it's slightly naive to write off several billion light-years^3 as being totally empty when we know about a fraction of what's out there. Just seems...logical to me, but then why am I not surprised that some people are completely illogical.....*sigh*

...And then there's Dark Flow...

"Patches of matter in the universe seem to be moving at very high speeds and in a uniform direction that can't be explained by any of the known gravitational forces in the observable universe. Astronomers are calling the phenomenon "dark flow."
The stuff that's pulling this matter must be outside the observable universe, researchers conclude.

....

"They discovered that the clusters were moving nearly 2 million mph (3.2 million kph)toward a region in the sky between the constellations of Centaurus and Vela. This motion is different from the outward expansion of the universe (which is accelerated by the force called dark energy)."

What's sad is dark matter comprises some 85% of the known Universe, but it took an accident for us to find it; it was never predicted by any theory, including the standard model.
Sad. Truly sad.
Why is that sad? Some of the greatest scientific discoveries were accidental (quantum mechanics, anyone?).

It's sad because it illustrates just how bad our models are.
The main problem is people's (Physicists and their followers) obsessive-compulsive disorder with mathematics. Remove this mental illness fron the physics classrooms and we'll raise an entire generation of Faraday-like Physicists.

While experimental technique is worth learning by all physicists, you're dismissing for no apparent reason a practice (theoretical physics) that has led to discoveries being predicted decades and even centuries in advance.

Also, given the scales that physics is exploring currently, experimentally you can't do as much as Faraday these days without having a handle on some mathematics.

Theory at least gives a focus to the work - there has to be one, as a discovery system that's entirely "accidental experimental discovery"-based would work much, much slower.

Well if you take the Volume of 1,000,000 Light Years ^3 / (All Mass in Existence) then the amount probabbly is so close to 0 as it might as well be 0 :)

(Same for Number of life forms / Population / Currency ect :D )

This quote highlights your ignorance really nicely. The fact that you said what you did proves nothing more than the extent of your nescience.

As Feynman said, "Foreplay is to sex as math is to physics."

If your idea were so marvellous, you'd think it would have caught on by now anyway.

Our models are bad? Their accuracy is staggering, and the technological advances made because of them are countless.

You mean like Hawking, Einstein, Bohr, Plank, Dirac, Darwin, Curie (both of them), Boltzmann?

I'm doubtful...

A sphere of radius 1,000,000 light years has a volume of 3.547*10[sup]75[/sup] m[sup]3[/sup].

The mass of the universe is about 2*10[sup]52[/sup] kg.

Dividing the former by the latter yields 1.774*10[sup]23[/sup] (give or take a few orders of magnitude).

Not quite zero :p.
