Traditional druids as in the ones of today, well, RD is more of a canopy name, covering quite a few different groups. There are groups within RD and some that have started from RD that are doing similar things as you and Havoc, trying to reclaims the past both in history and in beliefs. So if you considered a traditional druid as one that tries to follow the ancient ways, then they can be part of the Reformed druid, or in a seperate group.
hmm, not sure if they explained it very well.

Arikay,

How would a 'Reformed Druid' differ
from a traditional Druid?

I have always wondered why societies that did not value virginity were the ones most accused of sacrificing them?
I think that's because generally the accusers did value virginity. I'm not positive, though.

Spiritually, it's the religion of the heart to which I belong. The focus of my worship is that place where all becomes One. My Sacred Holy Book is the only Sacred Book directly written by the hand of my Beloved and which was written at the time of Creation. This Sacred Book can only be found in one place, which is with in life itself. Each and every creature with in Creation is Sacred as the Divine can be found with in each one. Creation for me is a never ending process that is never bounded by time, place or dimension.

That's it in a nut shell. Enjoy.

Mylinkay Asdara,

Thanks for the thread..............I'm a Pure Land Buddhist. The Land where bits of rubble turn into gold.............

I'll say no more..............I'll be leaving now to seek forums new.

Just a parting poem, by Laura Gilpin..........being a fuzzy, sappy old fool, it always brings tears to my eyes.........

"The Two-headed Calf"

Tomorrow when the farm boys find this
freak of nature, they will wrap his body
in newspaper and carry him to the museum.

But tonight he is alive and in the north
field with his mother. It is a perfect
summer evening: the moon is rising over
the orchard, the wind in the grass.
And as he stares into the sky, there
are twice as many stars as usual.

:)

Thank you..........all of you.

Strawberry WINE? OOOOOOOO! We LIKE Smilin' ::stares hopefully at him::

I'm an eclectic neo-Pagan. I'm not out to redo the past, but to look to the present and future, especially as it relates to human morality and modern day Divine revelation, using shapes from the past because they have power. And I'm here to have fun. And pizza. And strawberry wine? ::stares::

I think this is a healthy little thread. I'm so happy to return to it in it's origenal state rarther than all trashed out as I feared it might be.
Okay, now let's move to the deeper question- what led you to the beliefs you currently hold? Be as breif or lengthy as you like and feel comfortable with... now, a quick note- the story of how you might or might not have left christianity might come into play with some of us- let's keep in mind what type of board we're on and keep our stories appropriate to that if we can- sound good? Who wants to start?

**if there's any pizza left I'm not adverse to a cold pizza breakfast this moring... :looks around curiously:**

What led me to my belief? It's quite simple really..I was raised in this religion, my father and mother being religious. However, recently I have started researching into Islam (the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet) and I'm certain that I have found the religion that I want to die upon.

Awesome. So, if I have it right, you were raised Islam and have recently completely re-affirmed your faith and found within yourself the joy of the religion you were raised in? I wish you well in that- care to share any revelations? And- just a curiosity of mine- how do Islamic people feel about polytheistic religions such as mine?

Correct :)

care to share any revelations?

None sadly...However, I knew that I did not want my religion to become my culture as it has for many Muslims.

And- just a curiosity of mine- how do Islamic people feel about polytheistic religions such as mine?

Islam is a strict monothestic religion. Allah says in the Quran:

Say: "He is Allah, the one. Allah-the self suffecient Master whom all creatures need. He begets not, nor was He begotten. And there is none comparable (co-equal) unto Him" ( Surah-Chapter-112)

Understood. I don't have a problem with monotheism in general - most pagans are monotheists who believe god has multiple personalities anyway (hopes feverently not to be pounced for that statement made half in jest). I was just curious if it was similar to the line that christians have on polytheism that's all.

Blessings to you on your path to the Divine in all it's wonderousness.
Any other takers?

Life experience and reasoned thought set the stage. I'm not a philosophical genius, so I couldn't come up with an entire formal philosophical system all on my own. However, I could get a glimpse of what is good (such as happiness, reason, self-esteem, optimism, etc) through my own thought and experiences, and so when I discovered Ayn Rand and eudaimonistic thought, I was not completely surprised. It largely passed my persuasiveness test, and it had an appealing sense of life similar to my own.
