  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

No, you're wrong!

All I hear from people anymore are complaints about politics and politicians. It's getting old...

People on the left are pointing to the right and calling them hypocrites, and people on the right are pointing to the left and calling them hypocrites. No body ever agrees without rebutting with "Yah, but you guys do this!"

Let's get real. Let's be honest.

I have a personal challenge for you... The next time you discuss politics with someone, and they have a valid point, agree. That's it. No "But, what about this?" When you feel that thought creep up into your brain, stop it, and first aknowledge that the person may be onto something.

Explore their point. Go through in researching it, and see if it holds weight. Ask for evidence if they haven't provided it yet. If there is sufficient evidence to support their claim, then the matter is settled. No deflecting, no diverting, no shifting the responsibility.

When you divert attention away from a point, it never sinks in, and the matter is never settled. If we are interested in coming together as a nation, we need to not dismiss eachother when we disagree.

Let's start hearing eachother.

Unlike dispassionate academia, political "facts" aren't about the facts, themselves, but how they can be used to advance their agenda.

That is why thoughtful debate breaks down so quickly in that arena.
Many who pitch socialism, today, want communism, tomorrow.
Those who criticize the "lazy" poor, today, want social Darwinism, tomorrow (supposing that no one can be poor for reasons beyond their control).

In that regard, I am politically in the center, but so many see center as a means to political extremes. Even if I agree with their points, today, I cannot endorse their poorly-veiled agendas for tomorrow.

Nobody pushing socialist programs sees value in communism
and nobody who believes in natural classes wants to see the poor annihilated.
There is no such thing as a slippery slope.

True, but communists see value in socialism (as a means to an end)...
...and nobody who believes in natural classes wants to see the poor annihilated.
And fascists would turn the "lazy" poor into "useless eaters" [read: all poor], if they had their way.

I am completely familiar with the lazy poor having lived and worked among them. I experienced lazy poor who would rather do nothing than work for income even when offered good-paying jobs. But I have no idea what useless eaters are or what you're referring to. Nor have I ever heard of anyone who wished the poor to be worse off than they already choose to be.

The thought that anyone wants to expand the poor is absurd.

Providing evidence to support a claim is nothing but a ploy by socialist, SJW, lefties designed to convince people that something is true. :(

That is like saying there is no such thing as greed. But greed is the reason that capitalism and socialism have never worked. Greedy takers lie to the givers.

That is true of the extreme right, too.

And I always thought that the gentlemen and gentleladies of rightish inclination were paragons of moral rectitude - I am aghast that they would actually connive at flagrant truthtelling!

(Quickly Ada, bring the smelling salts! Madame has the vapours!)

Both capitalism and socialistic programs are the drivers for all progress in the world. If you think the US capitol/social economy is failing, I'd like to see your data.

If you think hand seeded and harvested farms avoiding capital investment works as the only viable business model for the world.....I have no response.

I prefer a more capitalist economy than the present one where we have more control over how our income is earned and spent; and less government to decide for us.

Oregon or Alaskan wilderness.

Seven states have no personal income tax:
Wyoming
Washington
Texas
South Dakota
Nevada
Florida
Alaska

Residents of these states pay the least in combined state and local sales taxes overall:

  • Alaska 1.78%
  • Oregon 0%
  • Delaware 0%
  • Montana 0%
  • New Hampshire 0%

Problem right here^^^. Assuming rather than listening.

Just go by what people actually say.
