So I haven't had my period since July. Had all the cancer removed from my cervix....still no cycle. So I thought...eh, maybe I'll take a pregnancy test, you know...just for the fun of it. What can it hurt? I only happen to have three or four on hand at minimum. It came back negative...and it did hurt, bad. I don't know why it hurt, I knew I wasn't pregnant but I subjected myself to that disappointment anyway.

I know it isn't the right time to have a baby. I get my all-clear in March, then I need to lose some weight and start eating healthy.

Anyone else taken pregnancy tests when you KNEW it wasn't going to be a positive? Were you seemingly more disappointed than when you thought you might be? I was.

Honey, I subject myself to that hurt every month... every month for the past 18 cycles... It is hard and unfortunately it doesn't get any easier from what I've been able to tell :sigh:
 Still saying prayers for you every night! :prayer:

Thanks hon. I can't remember, are you BFing? If you are it would be normal that you still have not had your cycles start.

Have you talked to your doctor about maybe putting you on something to kick your cycles into gear?

I've done it too. You know you're not, but the uncertainty gives you hope and then the hope is dashed when you don't get the little line in window. It's terribly hard to take, even though you were expecting it! You'd think it would be easier but it's not.

It sounds like you've been through a really rough time recently. I will pray for you.

No BF. The only thing that she will suggest to put it into gear is...birth control

There's always this little voice that says...'but maybe'. A negative test is always hard.

It's only 2 months since your m/c. Be gentle with yourself.
Thanks  It has actually been nearly four months since the m/c because I missed August...but IDK what I need to do to make me start. :sigh: I would rather start and go through the excruciating cramps I go through when I miss several like this than not to have one and wonder if maybe, just maybe I am pregnant, KWIM?

There are cycle-starting options other than birth control.

Progesterone (provera) can be used to induce your period. Clomid can be used to induce ovulation. Provera would probably be a good place to start.

All that said, my cycles are few and far between (non-existent is more like it) since I got off birth control. I've been stalling on starting Clomid because I'd like to lose some weight first, but I think I'm going to start it soon. Because of the lack of cycles, combined with, like, random hormonal mood swings and imagined nausea, I take pregnancy tests way more often than I need to. I'm pretty good at distancing myself emotionally from the whole thing, so it isn't as heartbreaking when I get the negative that I was expecting in the first place.

I'm going to have to check into that.

I agree, though, about the lack of cycles, combined with mood swings and imagined nausea. I think that is probably why I take more tests than I should...but I don't distance myself emotionally.

Is it a recurring thing...or just a take it once so you can start type thing? If it is a use it once type thing, that's okay cause we are in full coverage until the end of December. If not, I'll have to find out how much it is and go from there. Provera is the one just to help you start, right?

Provera is really expensive for you? For me, it's super-cheap. A monthly prescription for me is 10 pills, and that cost me about $3.50 when I had it filled. Now, Clomid is seriously expensive - like $12 per pill.

I think you can now get Clomid supa-cheap at Wal-Mart. Like $9 for a month.

Thanks, lovesdolphins! I just found that out myself as I tried to verify that I wasn't on crack when talking about Provera being cheap. WalMart has Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for $4, as long as you can use the generic form.

The news about Clomid (clomiphene) is awesome news, because you don't have to use your insurance (which can cause them to reduce coverage), and it's way cheaper than it usually is.

My local grocery store does a similar cheap prescription thing, but I don't think Clomid is covered there.

Ok I'm confused LOL.

My dr has me on provera for my luteal phase... but if you guys are saying that it's to bring on AF... I'm really confused. I take it from CD 14-28. Then I test on day 28, if not pregnant stop it and AF will start.

Also it's a little pill... that I take vaginally, but I don't understand how to get the pill up there and how it will stay (I take 1 in the morning and one in the evening.)
