inHisgrip,

I'm not sure if I can directly answer your question, as far as work (I'm currently struggling in that area myself), but I have been looking at the title of your post ("No Purpose") and thinking. Have you read Rick Warren's book, The Purpose-Driven Life? It is a great, Biblically-based book, and I think it could be very helpful for you. It has turned out to be life-changing for me. We all have definite, God-given purposes for living, but they don't necessarily have much to with our careers. Don't get me wrong-- work is very important, and it is good that you are searching for direction in that area of your life. Ultimately though, God's purposes for putting us here on the earth are much, much bigger than what we happen to do for a living. Please don't feel that you are without a purpose in life, whether or not you have a great job (or even any job at all). God has amazing purposes for you. I hope and pray that you take my words in a spirit of encouragement and love. :)

Your brother in Christ,
Chris

We are created unto good works. Perhaps some community service to the poor and needy of your community or visitation service to the people in hospitals and nursing homes. There's lots of work to do for the Lord, and we all have some gift we can share.

LUKE 14:12-14 Then Jesus said to his host, "When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do. they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. But when you give a banquet, invite the POOR, the CRIPPLED. the LAME the BLIND, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous."

Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Matthew 10:42 And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

EPHESIANS 2:10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to DO GOOD WORKS, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

TITUS 3:8 I want you to speak confidently concerning these things, so that those who have believe God may be careful to engage in GOOD DEEDS.

HEBREWS 10:24 And let us consider one another how to stimulate and provoke one another to love an, GOOD DEEDS and noble activities. 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

MATT. 25:31-45 When the Son of Man comes in his glory....He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.....Then he will say to those on his left,'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil & his angels. For I was hungry & YOU gave ME nothing to eat, I was thirsty & YOU gave ME nothing to drink, I was a stranger & YOU did not invite ME in, I needed clothes and YOU did not clothe ME, I was sick and in prison, and YOU did not look after ME.". "Whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me."

Get a project going. Look around the house and see if there are things that need fixing up, trees that need trimming, bushes that need to be moved, or rooms that need cleaning. Get moving and don't sit down to watch TV or mope for more than and hour (well, don't mope at all actually). This may sound stupid or low, but you could get a paper route or some little job that pay money so that you feel like you are doing something and getting something in return.

I am not looking for work related purpose. I have read the Purpose Driven Life, it is a great book. God really spoke to me last night. My issue is that I was feeling that I was no longer contributing to my family by not working, even though the goal isa to have me home for our son.
I really was able to grasp my importance of homemaker(wife and mother) last night through the Word. This morning during my devotion time God made it very clear that I am not focusing on finding my contentment in Him.
Isn't it awesome how He speaks just what we need when we need it.
Thanks for all the input
In Him
