The subjunctive mood means "may" or "may not". That's what I meant by ambiguity.
Yep, that's ambiguous, haha! "May" can imply 'might' (as opposed to 'might not'), or it can imply 'in order that' (denoting purpose or a condition causing a result) —it can even imply 'permission is given'. "May" or "may not" is necessarily subjunctive, but subjunctive falls out several different ways in context; I wouldn't say it means 'may' or 'may not'.
