They murdered the man, came up behind him while he was sleeping on the couch and shot him for being armed.

He is dead because their police work was shoddy and belligerent.
There is no evidence to support your wild allegations, it is that kind of inflammatory unsupported totally irresponsible talk that causes riots where people get killed and their property gets destroyed. He got killed because he pointed a gun at a police officer, those are the facts.

That was not clear "a gun was seen" you can watch the video yourself.

I don't blame a guy being woken up in the middle of the night reaching for his gun.

They shot a guy wrapped in a blanket waking up from the few split seconds they gave him to assess the situation.
You need to go watch the video, the subject had a gun in his hand and was elevating it in the direction of a police officer when he was shot, keep to the facts as they are not as you might like them to be.

Feel free to point out in the video evidence that the guy actually got to point the gun. The video I watched showed him holding a gun and waking up from a couch pointed in the opposite direction of the door.

True enough, we didn't see the end results. Maybe he had a mirror.

The video shows the angle of the gun at 1:36 in a still shot. It doesn't seem reasonable that the guy could have possibly had time to turn around and point it at the officers.

There are, btw, circumstances in which it's legal for a citizen to use deadly force against police officers. I didn't realize that was true until I myself was on a jury in a case of a man who claimed to have been defending himself against a police officer.

He had a legal right to point that gun at what could very well have been an intruder. He was executed by the police for exercising his right to use a gun for self-defense. The police opened fire within 9 seconds of crossing the threshold of the apartment. That is not enough time for a person awakened from sleep to register what is going on and exercise restraint. If that had actually been an intruder who broke in and if he had shot that intruder dead inside the apartment, there would not have been any charges filed against Locke because he was acting in self-defense. If the police are going to appear that much like intruders, bursting in at night, they should not be surprised if they are treated like intruders.
If, If, If, BUT the police were doing their job, had a legal right to be in the apartment, had announced that they were police, were dressed as police and the subject pointed a gun at them which he had NO LEGAL right to do, stick to the facts as they are instead of trying to invent new facts.

Agreed...it's called the 4th Amendment. Police would definitely need a warrant to "barge in". To even get a warrant in the first place, they would need convincing evidence of such a significant threat of crime and danger that a judge would sign a "no knock" warrant. That could be weeks or months of surveillance, multiple pieces of hard evidence, all kinds of witness statements, etc.

Does anyone....anyone at all....know if the police had a warrant?

Is there any information on whether or not the police had a warrant?

Here's the warrant info (I found this after my last reply).

Point it out. Time stamp. They have a still frame of the man holding the gun sitting in the couch, which means that it had to (at that time) be pointed away from the cops.

The couch faces away from the police.

It's clear that they had a warrant (or at least said so) and also that they came through the door and shot someone seconds later.

Oh ok.

We don't know what was in the warrant because the police haven't released it.

Well let's be honest...I don't think it's going to matter if they had enough evidence to charge the building itself with murder. If anyone can't find at least one case they disagree with the other side on....

Perhaps this doesn't have anything to do with police.

I did just post the details.

They were after evidence in a murder investigation, the person shot wasn't the suspect.

I consider this a bad use of a no knock warrant, their stated reason for needing it was destruction of evidence and they prioritized it over the lives of anyone in the apartments they raided.

A gun was visible and it even existed as evidence by the fact that it was immediately recovered. So we have video evidence and physical evidence, that leaves no room for doubt if a person is at all reasonable.

You may think it's reasonable to break into a house where someone is sleeping, startle them awake, and then murder them because they happen to have a gun, but I do not.

OK we are making progress now at least you see a gun, keep working on the video, eventually you will realize that this was a justified shoot.

Saying picking it up was wit intention to use it and not just show it off?
