am no stranger to training but I have not lifted in years since I started back in May. I
That's great that you are working on your strength training. I have been away from a gym since 2010. So it's a whole process for me to get back into this but I used to do heavy lifting when I was in college. So many things to learn and so much equipment has changed. Lots more variety.

I used to do a lot of walking and I was glued to my Garmin trackers. I have since sold my two latest trackers ( Fenix 6 and a Fenix 7 ) and switched to good ole G-Shock watches. When I start my workout I set my stop watch
that's awesome that you're able to get away from garmin. Those are some premium watches out of my price range. I switched to Coros because of trail running and price point. It was a nice adjustment when I had to start off aqua jogging. I used to have a G-Shock when I lived in Japan. I loved it! It was pretty pricey back then, about $120.

Ok now for my goal that I am setting right now. I am going to cut way back on my sugar intake
Best of luck with that. I found it a process. I first eliminated sugar and cream from coffee back in 2009. Later I did full abstaining from sugar for weeks at a time. Little by little I eliminated sweets coming into my house unless it was a gift from somebody. I've seen a sugar-free cookbook that used a lot of eggs in recipes. I can't remember the reasoning behind it.

Oh boy. Monday's are hard, and already off to a wicked awful start.
Itching to get a sugary latte. Just itching for one! Lol.... Ughhh, but I can't. I realize-- while not the main purpose for taking part originally-- a good side-effect of making an effort here-- is so I can wear my nicer clothes again-- which I've been a little too self-conscious to wear since I put on a little weight after things happened and I decided to eat my feelings for a few months and then just never got the extra weight back off

Hang in there. The more you change your taste buds to plain flavors, the more you become a connoisseur of good coffee. Over time the sugary drinks become too sweet that you avoid those places and even look down at them for sweeping dirt under the rug. It's now the highlight any place that I travel to test out or small coffee shop. I've collected a list of my go-to coffee shops to get good coffee.

Oh I'm not opposed to "plain coffee". When I'm home and brew my own (usually French Press, sometimes Espresso), I usually don't sweeten it. Just a splash of half and half, and I'm good to go. But coffee shops that deliver on Doordash-- yeah, they don't have great coffee if you get in plain. I need some caramel or mocha if I'm getting from those places.
Plus it's very spendy, so it's something I should avoid doing whenever possible xD

I used to have a Kuerig coffee thing at work, but my coworkers at the time were not very clendly about their food and stuff, and we got ants in the Vision Center, and in the coffee machine. Now that I'm manager, I'm paranoid to putting in another coffee machine.

I encourage you to just get in the gym for 15 minutes. Look around and you will see it's not that bad. Do a couple sets here and there and call it a day. Let us know how you do..I am excited to hear!

Coros are not any cheaper than Garmin, depending on the model you get. And it was not necessarily that Garmin was bad its just that I had been wearing fitness trackers for so long I grew tired of them. Almost as if they were a heavy yoke.

If you're brewing at home I just discovered one that I really like. Trader Joe's has one that is shade grown.

I guess I understand. If I'm desperate I will get gas station coffee but I still don't put anything in it. But we have another gas station that has a latte machine, that yes I do get that occasionally because of the espresso shots.

used to have a Kuerig coffee thing at work,
I hate Keurig! It's way too strong and bitter I can't stand the taste. It's almost on the level of Starbucks with some coffees but not totally.

I encourage you to just get in the gym for 15 minutes. Look around and you will see it's not that bad.
Yes, I have been going to the gym now since september. I'm working with a strength trainer who's been designing a plan for me. The only problem is the conversion between the two YMCAs is different. I'm restricted for 4 months or so to Aqua jogging for my cardio and the row machine because of plantar fasciitis rupture on my left foot.
What I was trying to say is there so many things that I'm excited about learning. Unfortunately my body doesn't totally keep up, yesterday my trainer was trying to teach me ropes but my forearms hurt from Aqua jogging.

Coros are not any cheaper than Garmin, depending on the model you get.
Coros I have is cross pace which is the same price point as Garmin 55. It was a step up for my Garmin 35. I just don't like to sleep tracking, as I found Garmin 35 more accurate. But with the coros I do like that I've been able to track my heart rate throughout the night.
And I understand what you're saying about them being a heavy yolk. That's why I was saying that's great that you're not wearing them anymore. So many of us are strapped to too much technology. I take media breaks occasionally, partially for reducing distractions, a little bit of health and sometimes for spiritual reasons.

Ok that is even better! You are on your way :)

I had this issue this past year and I quit walking for exercise altogether. Now its gone and doesn't hurt anymore.

I'm so glad for you. Yeah for runners it's a really hard mindset to give it up. I read a story about a runner for 3 years that had plantar fasciitis issues. Once she got cancer and was flat on her back for 3 months then she had no issue.

Woohoo! Today I set a PR for aqua jogging, 93 leg strokes in one minute. I'm not even sure if I got the count right because my body was going so fast and I had no problem breathing I felt like it wasn't my own body. It was crazy. It must be because I worked out yesterday with my strength trainer.

Finally got around to doing my rehabilitation exercises, what you might call homework because I'm supposed to be doing this before my appointment on Friday.

Doing a preventative procedure on Wednesday. Hopefully preparation goes well and the results turn out good.

I'm not even sure what Aqua Jogging is, other than jogging in a pool maybe?
But YAAYY! Happy for you! :)

Do you mind if I ask, rehabilitation from what?

You have a flotation belt is around your waist and you say in the upright position running in place. not only does it help your running form, but it helps strengthen many areas you would not get with just running. Screenshot_20220918-182353~2.png

January 2022 I went ice skating, which I've only done once before as a child, I fell and hurt my knee. By March when I started running again, it was still hurting on the side of the knee and I started working with a physical therapist. She said it was my IT band that was rubbing the side and then she realized that I had a pronation problem and said she would not work with me till I had sports orthotics.

The sports orthotics were so painful and did not work out.. before Labor Day weekend I ended up getting a plantar fasciitis rupture. I gained a lot of weight because of the weight on adjustments with the sports orthotics, and I never could do a full run in them for long distance. Just walk runs. I got a new physical therapist which is much further away and she's working on the original problem of my knee. My right leg has a lot of weakness because my left leg has been compensating which is where the injury is to my foot. My body is a mess, but I think that I will get there one day.

So since September I have been doing aqua jogging, started a strength training plan with a trainer and a new physical therapist. Sorry for the long complicated explanation. The picture is not of me but it's probably what I would look like.

Ugh, what a day at work. Doc got us coffee again, but other than that, I did decently. But I'm sick of doing decently. I wanna start acing this! Christmas is coming up and I wanna wear my nice clothes. Need more exercise and to eat less!
