In a recorded video, the child asked the Republican candidate about his favorite farm animal.
“I’ll tell you what I love, I love cows, but if we go with Kamala, you won’t have any cows anymore,” the former president responded to the child’s question. “I don’t want to ruin this kid’s day.”
He then called Harris a “radical left lunatic.”...
...While speaking to voters, Trump said Democrats wanted to remove windows from buildings and get rid of cows.
“They just come up, they want to do things like no more cows and no windows in buildings. They have some wonderful plans for this country, honestly they’re crazy,” he stated.
In North Carolina, he added that Harris would “outlaw red meat.”

Lying to a child to win an election? Sure, that's not as bad as sexual assault, insurrection, fraud and felonies, but bad nonetheless.

Now some of you may claim that he may not be lying because his elderly brain may actually believe this patent nonsense, but just that he will say anything without knowing whether it be true or false (what an argument!) is not really favorable to his "character".

Methane produced by livestock is on the block to be regulated.
It has been a subject for jokes for years as the climate activist routinely call cows the major cause of methane.
There have been proposals for reducing cow numbers or using the media to promote vegetarianism
I think there have been some regulations concerning the handling of manure to release less methane.
Tax dollars to get rid of cattle industry
These are serious proposals by the climate change politicians.
Been around for years, "no more cows" as the methane output of agriculture is the largest source, bigger than oil or other energy sources.

I've gotta say, I haven't heard the no windows one yet. I'd be interested in hearing their rationale on that one lol.

But to play devil's advocate here, can I see a potential path from point A -> B on the "no more cows" claim.

I haven't personally heard of Harris, in particular, saying that she's of that ilk... (I'm not aware of her being vegan or anything like that)

But given that the context of the comment was likely with regards to food, and many on the left want to see red meat consumption reduced or eliminated in favor of plant-based alternatives (and wealthy Democratic donors are behind that push in many ways), I can see where there could be concerns that the moment 51% of Democrats are of the mindset that "we need to eliminate or drastically reduce beef to help address climate change", she'd be inclined to jump on board with the idea.

Again, that's just my devil's advocate argument.

From a personal perspective, I do actually believe that factory farming of beef impacts climate change (and even if someone doesn't believe in climate change, it's still terrible for ecology on a localized level) which is why I made the choice to eliminate ~80% of my red meat consumption.

I'm just saying that she's your standard "whichever way the wind is blowing" kind of politician... if 51% of democrats said "reduce beef" and Bill Gates was standing there with a check for $20 million for her 2028 reelection campaign with the "mutual understanding" that she pivots to supporting imitation products like "Beyond Beef" (a company he has a stake in), I could totally see her getting on board.

Eating locust is Biblical.

"No cows" under President Harris is a lie.

The Locust is a Tree. It has a bean much like a mesquite bean that has been used for food in the Middle East.
There are Locust Trees native to the Southwest used in the same way.
It is a large family and very wide spread geographically.

The "Locust" in the Bible were Carob Trees, also known as St. John's Bread.

But given that the context of the comment was likely with regards to food,
No, the actual context was a 6 year old child recorded asking the former president what his favorite farm animal is. He took it from there during a Fox & Friends live segment.

“I’ll tell you what I love, I love cows, but if we go with Kamala, you won’t have any cows anymore,” the former president responded to the child’s question. “I don’t want to ruin this kid’s day.”

"No cows" under President Harris is a lie.

Obviously it's an example of extreme hyperbole...which I think it terrible form, because it actually ends up taking a sliver of truth, and making people apathetic to it with an exaggerated lie, and weakening the validity of a better argument that could be made.

There's zero evidence that Harris wants to "get rid of cows"

A more nuanced critique (that would be valid) would be:
"Harris appears to have the propensity to be sympathetic to climate change activists, who've called for the drastic reduction of beef production, which would end up making steaks and burgers way more expensive"

That would be a more legit critique.

It's the same mistake the right makes when they make sweeping hyperbolic statements like "the dems want to take all your guns away", well that's clearly not the case, a lot of them have certain guns themselves lol.

It weakens their own argument.

The more accurate "The dems want to add additional procedure and restrictions around certain types of firearms, and here's why we disagree with that" would be a more honest starting point for a discussion.

“I’ll tell you what I love, I love cows, but if we go with Kamala, you won’t have any cows anymore,” the former president responded to the child’s question. “I don’t want to ruin this kid’s day.”

I meant his rationale was his statement was about the "raising cows for beef causes climate change according to the democrats" and wasn't a "she's Hindu" thing.

As I already noted, it was poor form on his part and exaggerated hyperbole.

The reality is, there are some "power players" on the Democratic side who would like to see a reduction of factory farmed meat and a move towards replacement products like imitation beef (and as I mentioned, I'm not unsympathetic to that argument...raising meat for food, in the way we do it, is terrible for the environment).

But to say "she wants to get rid of cows" is obviously inaccurate hyperbole.

And an odd form of it I might add...as usually when someone list their favorite animal, it's for reasons of "how cute it is" or "how goofily the animal behaves". The "my favorite animal is XYZ, because in 2 years they can hit it with the bolt gun, slit its throat to drain the blood, and make me a burger with it" is an odd flex.

I could never eat insects. Grosses me out. Unless you consider shrimp, crab, or lobster to be “sea insects.” ;)

I thought locust is a grasshopper?
It is a grasshopper.
It is also a Tree.

I have both grasshoppers (Locust) and Locust trees in my yard.
Grasshopper are a hard to catch, requiring searching, almost crawling around snatching at them
I could perhaps use a net but energy (calorie) expenditure to energy (calorie) return is low.

Honey Locust Trees are beautiful and have abundant pods which are hard shelled.
IT is easy to harvest the pods, there is an abundance and the pods store well in a cool dry area.
The beans are shucked, ground and made into a meal which is very tasty.

St. John ate Locust in the Bible but that is usually interpreted as meaning the Carob Bean from a Tree very similar to Locust.
Those are tasty, easy to harvest store and grind in quantity.

Chasing grasshoppers around, a person would expend more energy than the food source delivers.
So Trees it is for an abundant, easy to catch harvest that will feed a person for a long time with low energy expended.

However anyone who wants to eat bugs is welcome to "harvest" all you can grab in my yard.
Bring your own container. I have an abundance of bugs.

How do we know?

You don't know this. Kamala Harris was behind the green new deal...

She doesn't need much to push her over the edge and the small family farm can't afford cow fart taxes.

Kamala Harris is the farthest left candidate to ever run for office in all of American History.

Your accusing Trump of jumping to some crazy conclusion but you're doing the same thing when you dismiss how far left she is out of hand.

I do imagine that if Harris gets into office the days of little boys helping with the families cows on the family farm are done. It's difficult enough for a small family farm, the left just compounds everything with never ending taxes and regulations.

The Biden Harris Administration likes going after the Amish... I think Harris will be that on steroids.

I've eaten a few in Asia. Locusts are actually quite a nice snack with a cold beer.

Daddy, what was it like when you were growing up?

Well, son...we once had these large animals called cows. There were made of meat. And there were holes in the walls of the house that were covered in glass that you could look through.

I don't believe you, daddy! You're just being silly!
