  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I heard it, but I'm not buying it. Listening to some samples of their new songs; Annette sounds a bit like Sharon from Within Temptation, but I think I might like this new album.:) It probably won't measure up to Oceanborn or Wishmaster's power metal days, but that's ok. Its still Nightwish.

MetalBlade, I would have to say I disagree. I really liked "Once," although I guess I really liked half the album and really didn't care for the other half.
Nightwish is better than DF, but I like them both.
PoundingMetal, I have to agree. It will be great. Tuomas is an excellent song writer. No matter who the female lead is, Marco still has his awesome solo pieces that sound wonderfully hardcore. November 14? Where are you seeing them?

Hey morvaltur,
I live in Southern California so I am extremely fortunate that many bands I like very much, yet are almost completely unknown in America, still come and play in and around Hollywood. Which is where I am seeing Nightwish on the 14th of November (House of Blues). Same place my wife and I saw them a few years back when they toured with Children of Bodom.
I get very excited when I hear about the mostly European bands I listen to coming over to America, even though the radio and television addicted America has no idea who they are. Bands like (who I've seen) Nightwish, Gamma Ray, Hammerfall, Edguy, Blind Guardian, Karma, Epica and others. But even if a band can't make to America, at least we have their music!!!

God Bless and Rock On!

First I would like to say Nightwish is the greatest band but they need to bring Tarja back. Now I got the new song "Eva" and the new singer is cool, pretty and can sing good and the song is beautiful but I just love Tarja! -.- lol Anyone going to a show? I am going to the Jaxx show in VA on Oct. 15th.

Frankly, I liked OLD Tarja. Er... young Tarja... you know, from the first three albums. Her style started to change once they hit Century Child, and while I still liked it, she just sounded too... poppy, I guess, when they hit Once. Tuomas' composing changed too, though, so I guess all the blame can't be put on her.

Yeah I've heard of them. Don't listen them though. I can't get past the growling and screaming unintelligibly. Even though the music is outstanding, as I think Arch Enemy is, I still won't bother listening just because of the horrible vocals, IMO.

*laughs* Some of their songs, though (a lot of the ones I really like) are fairly slow. "Rosenrot," "Stirb Nicht Vor Mir," "Klavier," "Spiel Mit Mir, " and "Wo Bist Du" just to name a few. Oh, and "Stripped" is an understandable, non-growling, sung-in-English song.
