The only reason I go "clubbing" is because I love to dance and my friends dj sometimes, I go to places where they serve natural energy drinks, because I just don't like alcohol. I don't need to do it every weekend though, just once in awhile. These aren't exactly 'wild parties'

The bible says not to get drunk and get involved in immoral activities, but dancing isn't one of them. (at least in my opinion) Do you go clubbing to get drunk? or do you do it to hang out with your friends and let loose?

It depends what are doing with your "clubbing" :)

I think I may have outgrown this already though, no desire to go anymore

No, I don't drink at clubs (not anymore!)

Yep, I go clubbing to hang out with my friends & dance. However, in my depiction, I see a lot of filthy behaviour (dirty dancing), and fights braking out. Most filled with jealousy. So in my situation it must be wild, and taboo....

It's hard to find a club that does not include such an environment. I'ven't seen one over the years since I entered the scene.

Romans 13:13
"Let us walk honestly, as in the day:..."

One other place that Paul mentions this is in Thessalonians, when he is reffering to Christians living as in the day, and the world living as in the night...

The Hebrew word for honestly used in the passage is euschēmonōs: Which means to be decent, honest...

I would say from this passage, no you shouldn't be clubbing. Though in different places in has different meanings. Like in France it's no big deal, in America it means something about your lifestyle.. But I'm not sure in Canada.... More imprtantly then that the Bible says that we should "Walk worthy of God.." Is that walking worthy? Step back for a minute and examine why you do it, why you like to do it, who hangs out there, is it profitible, ect.. ?

If you are guilty of what is " literally " written in Romans 13.13 or 1 Corinthinas 6.9 , I would rethink my evening recreation ...

get stinking drunk , fall down , pass out , throw up , wake up in strange bed with stranger .....

v's have 1 or 2 beers with friends and go home; or have a drink at home , after a long day [ still sober ] to wife .... different [ 1 Tiomothy 5.23 ]

Did ya jump into my head and then write down was in mind? :D

I think I hit the club scene for about six years straight. <Yes, I started relatively young>. I got tired of it around 23, because I had a hard time with some of the music I was hearing at the clubs. I love to dance. LOVE to dance. Will dance almost anywhere. But I didn't want to hear some of the crass and brash lyrics I was hearing at clubs. Of course, clubs vary in their type of music, but the ones I was generally going to had some seriously problematic music going on. As a result, even though I'm a sucker for a good beat, I couldn't dance to stuff and listen to that stuff so I stopped going. I also got tired of the drunken guys coming up to me as well as seeing some people who thought they were dancing but rather had a glorified grope routine going on.

Hearing from what I did. I want to rephrase my question.

Why should we go clubbing anyhow?

If it's all about dancing and hanging out with friends, we might just stay home, and enjoy the evening together doin that. Yeah.., maybe we might not have the disco ball in set, or the laser effect, but listening to what the scene is mostly about lately, kinda sickens me! Plus, you can control your selection of music, if lyrics are too demeaning !

Let's look what it has to offer.

Drunk guys,
A bunch of naked thighs (in the view of a guy), lust, temptation, resulting to inproper behavior.

Now, I want to hear from you what your oppinion is!

P.S: A friend of mine, just got involved in the desire to be loved, and hooked up with someone in a club. Which ended up with her taking the guy back home to her place. She was lucky that he didn't rape her in his drunkeness...God Bless. Surely not a good place to find lasting love....

I just came across Romans 13:13, and considering what is written, is clubbing taboo for a christians ?

"Don't participate in wild parties and getting drunk, or in adultery and immoral living, or in fighting and jealousy" (NLT)

Surely, most clubs do include either one of the mentioned...what do you say ?
Hi there!

I have a tendency to tell people that when it isn't specifically in the Bible, to just ask God to lead you.

The Bible does speak of dancing before the Lord in praise... is that the type of dancing you will see in clubs.

I think not.

I think Paul is speaking of indulging the sinful nature "You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love." (Galatians 4:13) So doing anything to simply fuel the lust of the sinful nature is dangerous. If you go to a club simply to hang out, have fun, fellowship with others, and you find it not a hindrance to your Christian walk, then I see nothing wrong with it. However if you find that clubs are constantly causing you to sin, or that you simply go to "indulge" your sinful nature, than it's probably a very good idea to stop. I want to point out that it's not the act of going, rather your intentions for going, and the indulging you do; focus more on this, and remember Christianity is not a legalistic system.

Note: When reading something like "wild parties" it's important to not immediately link it to practices of today, instead first link them with what they were in the time it was written. In this case "wild parties" more than likely refers to the pagan practices of the day which included (but not limited to): drunkenness, prostitution, orgies, etc.
