• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

ForeverSeekingLight,

I can totally relate to your situation, as I have always been looked at as the "goody 2-shoes" of the family that does not wrong. I have a lot of pressures in my life though and I had a VERY rough year (probably my toughest) yet that got me so down that I felt I needed to go to counseling. My couselor said that anti-depressants could aid me in recovering from the depression so I first tried Zoloft, which was a disaster - made me so sick to my stomach. Then I tried Prozac, which is what I am on now and I have nothing but positive things to say about it. I also suffer from OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) but it wasn't as bad as the depression. I am happy to announce that I've been on the anti-d's for over two months now and I hardly have ANY OCD symptoms and I have an increased sense of well-being, can concentrate better and hardly ever get down to the point where I am in tears. It's helped me focus on the things that are important in my life and put the rest in God's hands- and FORGET about it. I hope and pray that you, ForeverSeekingLight, will be able to receive the same results as me or even better. Are you seeking counseling as well? You can pm me if you'd like anytime. I check on this site a few times a day. I've only been a member a week and a half and I love it here! There is tons of support from people that are going through the same thing you are. You are definitely not alone! I hope you get the support you need. You are in my prayers!

P.S. I'm starting school again
on Jan.9 to study to get my
bachelor's degree in teaching too!
I am studying to be a reading specialist
in elementary schools. Very excited about
that!

Hey,
Thats so cool. What did you do up till now in terms of school/work? Thanks for writing to me... reminded me that people do care!
I am loving this place. There are so many forums to join and you feel people don't really care...but this one people really seem to! Thankyou for caring.
I am still taking my anti-depressants and will continue to. I just really hope that I see results.
Thankyou again for caring. I will be here for you so feel free to pm me anytime at all!

I was put on Prozac when my wife of 23 years decided that she may not want me anymore. I couldn't sleep, eat or function. But when I found out that I needed to face my depressive problems and accept what I can't change, I found peace. Then I met, again, a beautiful lady that I had known 20 years earlier at my first Air Force Base, and she turned my life around and I have been depression free since then. You can do it. I'd be more than happy to talk with you any time. If you want my email or IM address, let me know.
