I'm not KJVO but I think that both of those new Bible versions seem like they would be excellent supplements to the KJV. I have only read portions of the KJ21 and honestly, I couldn't tell a whole lot of difference between it and the KJV. I think the only thing it changed was the archaic words although I can't remember. It may have changed the Thees and Thous to modern equivalents but it's been a while since I read the portions so I can't remember.

Hey that's a great website not just for info about KJV21, but for many different versions. I get a lot of "non-standard" versions like Living Bible and Amplified Bible and even American Standard, and I didn't know where to find out if these were good Bibles I could send out with confidence or if they were warped Bibles like the NWT that would cause people to beleive the wrong things about God. That website helped me clear up some of those questions.

Double thanks!

The chances of the creation or update of any older version be it King James or otherwise, it is highly unlikely that the Textus Receptus is truly preserved in it.

All these 'scholars' like to play around with the word of God, they never make anything true to the Textus Receptus...even the NKJV is peppered with Westcott and Hort's Greek texts.

I'm sticking with the old one, after a few years I'm so used to it that any of the newer or modern versions always confuse me and they also promote horrible theology when you really look into it.

Just some thoughts,

The KJV has been around for 393 years, and now they need to "Update" it?
Isn't that what the New King James Version is? A new "Updated" version?
IMHO
I think they, whomever "they" are, just want to sell books. They try to make you believe that you're too old fashioned for this century, you need updating, your Bible needs updating. I don't need updating, I have a purer word of God.

Another similar version is the KJV 2000.
The most striking difference I found between the KJV 2000 and the KJV is that the KJV 2000 changes masculine pronouns that collectively refer to both genders, to the neutral.

Something bothers me about the KJV, and that is that the pronoun usage is almost always male. Was this how it was with the original scriptures, and the male usage was just a bias that got in since then?

If Scripture is updated due to revelation or to update understanding through contemporary language (changing thee's and thou's or other updates to old english), then that is ok. But, if it is updated to be contrary to Scriptures as they were originally to conform to societal norms, then that is wrong. IMO, changing pronouns to be male is contrary the original writing and is intended to fit with societal norms of today.

I totally agree with mesue...all these people want to do is sell more Bibles, they are greedy for money. I do not support any of the modern versions, but I think there is certainly quite enough versions of the Bible, just let people pick one already.

It's like a multiple choice question on a test, but everyone keeps adding answers...A B C D...Z

Which Bible version do you read?

There are so many answers to this question and they keep adding new ones that it's so hard to answer.

The whole purpose of the thees and thous is to show the difference between singular and plural. You lose the ability to tell it a verse is to us personally or to a group. That's why some who read "You should not kill" think milkitary or police service is wrong, or those who read "You shouldn't murder" think abortion is not against the commandent since it's legal. Thou shalt not kill clears that confusion up. The KJV has been changed over time to reflect spelling and grammar changes, but to change SOOOO much just to get a copyright isn't a translation, it's a transliteration. Still, I would have to read more of these versions to see if they are truly translated scripture instead of revised text.

I like the newer Bible versions. I always try to buy a new translation when one comes out. One of my favorites that is newer is the Holman Christian Standard Bible. From what I understand, it is an excellent translation. One reason I trust the newer Bible translations is because of the discovery of older manuscripts such as the Dead Sea Scrolls. I prefer the KJV and the NKJV for a literal Bible version used for serious study. But for general study and reading, I use the NIV or HCSB. I sometimes use the NIV for serious study as well. And then for casual reading I also like the NLT and the Message Bible.
