  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is there more than one "new" Twilight zone? I remember seeing some more "recent" ones (maybe from the nineties/early 2000s) that I thought were a total joke. They were in color and pretty awful, I think.

That said, how could anything compare to the original?

Jordan Peele has started a new one on CBS all Access but the very first one "The Comedian" is free on YouTube right now. The cussing is awful and your right it does not compare to the original

Any one seen the first episode? I do not think it was really great, for me the cussing was very off putting and it was to long. Nothing like the original in my opinion
I was waiting for someone to bring this show up! Sit tight folks, I'm about to go on a rant, though I'll try to keep it short.

Okay, so I was on YouTube and I ended up stumbling across the first episode by accident. My grandpa had hyped me up for this new series, and so I thought I would give this first episode a try. I clicked on it and... well... let's just say that's about 6 and a half minutes from my life that I'm never getting back.

The episode starts with a comedian making a joke that's so flat that it puts un-crumpled paper to shame. The joke is about the second amendment and... I mean, you can joke about whatever you want, I don't care, but I couldn't help but feel like the show was preaching to me about gun control. In the first Twilight Zone show (from the 1960's), at least Rod Serling used symbolism and metaphors to get his point across, and that was part of the charm that she show had. As for this train-wreck of a show... No. Just no.

Then the show moved on to the comedian drinking at a bar and the scene dragged on for SO LONG. I think my hair turned a bit grey during the time that scene lasted. They just went on and on about things I can't even remember (despite watching this less than four hours ago) and I couldn't bear to watch for longer than the six and a half minutes that I watched it. I skipped around the episode a bit after the six and a half minute mark and there wasn't really anything in the episode that captivated me enough to get me to watch the rest of it. So yeah... I give this series a hard pass.

P.S. I'd also say to be careful if you don't like listening to curse words. There are F-bombs in this show as well as some... vulgar language that I won't go into detail about. It's not worth the almost HOUR that is lasts, trust me.

This sort of problem has been going around a lot in the Sci Fi / Fantasy would where now the younger generation are starting to write screen plays and they do it very ham handedly.

TV Tropes often has some good articles when discussing TV depictions, here are a few pages related to this topic.

CBS All Access streaming and so far it does seem to be
What a shame. Dr Who got "woke" and it sucks now. I really loved the old twilight zone. Thankfully the old ones still stand the test of time...if not more so today.

The only reason for CBS AA is Star Trek, which is good, but I just buy the season when it comes out.
